Darius

One week after proposing marriage, Darius strode into No Limit Bar and Grill for three burgers and heard a familiar annoying giggle. Then he heard some real bullshit.

“I’m looking for my baby daddy. Darius Kent.”

What the fuck? “Kimber,” he growled.

Raven and Lexi should be right behind him on the hay wagon ride from Tommy’s Park.

She turned and lunged for him. “Hey, daddy.”

After Clarence Drake proved Kimber had been the source to provide the photo and story to the online tabloid, she’d been terminated and, Darius suspected, forfeited her severance pay.

Her thin frame slammed into his solid chest, the momentum threatening to take them both down.

From behind the bar, Ivy glared at the woman. “Friend of yours, Darius?”

Darius scowled. “Hell. To. The. No.”

Ivy nodded. “Be right back.”

She disappeared, leaving him alone with the woman who’d tried to hurt his family and scared his son by divulging their location to that journalist.

Darius caught Kimber up in his arms. “I’m going to bury you,” he muttered in her ear. “How the fuck did you find us?”

“Everything was in her file,” she giggled in response. “And I’ll mess up your little house on the prairie with Dr. Queen Medicine Woman,” she taunted.

“Who won’t win,” he growled.

She ran a finger down her cheek. “You owe me. Sleeping with you cost me more than my job.”

She should have considered the consequences of tangling with a Kent. Especially now that he had someone, Raven and Lexi, to lose.

“No. Fucking with me,” he rumbled, “like you’re doing now, cost you.”

She lowered her head, her mouth close to his ear. “Well, a baby,” she rubbed her flat belly, “changes things.”

And that’s when shit got interesting. The bell above the door jiggled, alerting him that they had an incoming audience. He and Kimber swiveled. Raven stood there, hands fisted, eyes blazing.

“Darius,” she rasped.

He feared she would take in the scene and assume the worst, though he’d done absolutely nothing wrong. “I didn’t do shit.”

Yep, he totally threw the shit out there. No way would he compromise his woman’s trust over Kimber’s ass.

“Get ass from that bitch.”

Done. He all but field-goaled Kimber off of him.

Kimber, quick with the recovery, smiled. “Oh hi, Raven.” Kimber giggled…again. “I was just telling Darius the good news. Even though our relationship ended on a bad note, I’m expecting his—”

“I call bullshit,” Darius spat.

Raven, the woman he adored, took it a step farther. Not only did she not believe the accusation, she defended him.

“Me and this man are getting married, so the only thing you can expect is this ass-wiping I’m about to deliver if you ever come within eyeball distance of my man and our son.”

Yeah, they didn’t have any more trouble from Kimber. Mom don’t play.
