She didn’t know, couldn’t possibly understand the power she held over me. Unknowingly, she was seducing me, pushing me to the brink of madness. This woman would surely destroy me if she kept doing this—if she kept pulling me into this abyss where all I wanted was to claim her, own her, over and over again.
I pulled my fingers out, glistening with her juices, and without hesitation, I forced them into her mouth.
Her lips parted weakly, her eyes fluttering as I thrust my fingers in deeper. The feel of her mouth, the way her tongue involuntarily licked at the remnants of herself, was alcoholic. I pushed in and out.
“Take it,” I whispered, pecking her teary cheeks. “Take everything I give you.”
Her body was going limp in my arms, her consciousness slipping away, but I didn’t stop. The sight of her like this, utterly helpless, was all-consuming. My little bird had finally succumbed; lost to the dark world I had pulled her into. She was barely there.
When she finally went completely limp, I cradled her naked body in my arms.
I held her close, feeling the slow rise and fall of her chest as she breathed, unconscious and unaware of the depths.
Or perhaps this was how I preferred her.
She tasted sweeter than I had imagined.
Gently laying her on the bed, I didn’t bother to cover her and grabbed a bottle of alcohol before sitting on the couch and sipping from the bottle, watching her.
When did it become like this? I was supposed to sleep withher once and never look back. A pawn. That’s what she was. But why… why did I feel like this wouldn’t be the last time I’d mark her?
Twice. I should sleep with her again. Maybe then….
Something buzzed somewhere, and I would’ve ignored it if it wasn’t in front of my damn face and on the table. Annoyed, I grabbed the device and realised it wasn’t mine. My finger tapped over the notification, and my body turned stone cold.
I’m sorry for everything, Sera. But I truly like you. Damn, I think I’m in love with you.
I slammed the device back on the table with unnecessary force before I smashed it on the wall and let my murderous instincts kick in. While I shouldn’t give a fuck, I knew Ivan Morozov was going to die… well, sooner than I intended.
I gulped the remained liquor in one go and let my eyes rake over her naked body on the bed.
It’s either my little bird gave me some answers, or it’d be a pity to draw blood from that porcelain skin.
Chapter 43
The Prey
Agroan left my mouth, and pain wrapped around me like an old, familiar shroud, something that felt like my body had been stung by thousands of needles. I didn’t need to see the bruises blooming across my skin to know they were there, didn’t need to touch the tender, aching spots to feel the damage beneath.
It was as if I’d been shattered and the pieces of me scattered were irreparable.
For a momentary second, I clung to the hope that it was just a nightmare—some twisted figment of my imagination. But the cold, stark reality settled in like ice in my veins as I felt soft, velvety sheets beneath me. Cold air hit my skin, and the more I tried to open my eyes, the worse my headache got.
To my terror, my surroundings were suffocatingly quiet, the kind of silence that pressed down on your chest until you could barely breathe.
My body screamed with every subtle movement, muscles stiff and brutally torn protesting even the smallest shift.
With difficulty, I pried my eyes open, and the ache in my body dragged me back to reality like a hook in my spine. I was sprawled on my stomach, face angled toward the tall window. From where the sunlight poured in, thick and warm, almost suffocating in its brightness, making everything feel too real, too harsh.
It had to be late afternoon—the kind where the light starts to get that hazy, burnt orange tint.
I pushed myself up, a low groan slipping out as every muscle protested. The sheets slid off, cool air hitting my skin, and I forced myself to look down. Bruises bloomed across my flesh like twisted bites, angry and dark marks of his. My jaw clenched, fury bubbling up inside me, mixing with the pain until it was all I could feel.
Tears threatened, but I swallowed them down, refusing to give in to the weakness.
The monster had been brutal last night, too cruel, pushing me past every limit until I was nothing but a broken shell. All I wanted was to get out of here, to put as much distance between me and him as possible.
That was the plan—I was going to make a break for it, no matter how much it hurt.
