“I’d like to see you try,” he responded and gave me an exaggerated salute before turning and walking out of the room.

Asswipe. He had two hours starting five minutes ago, but I had another thing I needed to take care of in the meantime, a call I needed to make.

Chapter 28: Thea

I woke up to the sound of two men screaming. Shooting my body up, I looked around the strange room. A sense of deja vu washed over my body as I realized I was in a strange hotel room.

Feeling the pain that rang throughout my body, my memories came back to me as I remembered Matteo breaking into Dav and Serena’s house and taking me.

Fear crept into my mind. Was he going to kill me this time? I hoped Maverick would come and save me, but I wasn’t sure how he would begin to know where to look. I began to cry as I thought about never seeing him, Dav or Serena again. Hell, I would miss all of the club members.

I also thought about Chase and Bridgette. Would they even know what happened to me?

The door to the bedroom opened and a man I recognized as Luca Santoro walked through.

“It’s good to see you again, Thea,” he said my name softly. “How are you feeling?”

“Okay,” I whispered. “I’m okay.”

“Good,” he nodded. “I’m taking you home.”

“You are?” The shock I felt was clear and he chuckled.

“I am,” he said as he reached out his hand to me. “I’m on strict orders to take you home or your scary lover is going to rain hell upon me and my future generations.”

I laughed. Luca was just like I remembered, the most polite yet goofy man I had ever met, and beautiful. The man looked like Luca Calvini from When in Rome.

I began to get out of the bed and grimaced at the sharp pain I felt in my ribs. I knew from my past experience with Matteo that he more than likely cracked one or two.

“Don’t worry,” he said. “I'm taking you to the hospital anyway.”

I finished getting up and began limping towards the door.

“I don’t need a hospital,” I said, proudly.

“You do, but that’s not why I’m taking you,” he said, offering me his arm to use as a crutch. “Your sister-in-law went into labor.”

“What? Is she okay?”

“Indeed, she is,” he said with a smile. “You now have a beautiful, healthy nephew.”

I smiled at his words. I was happy that Serena and my new nephew were okay, but embarrassment still washed over me. I wasn’t a good enough person to be an aunt. They shouldn’t want me in his life. No one in the club should want me there. I put both Serena and the baby’s lives in danger along with poor Blake.

Oh god, Blake. I hoped he was okay, too.

As we exited the room, I let out a relaxing breath as I realized Matteo must have left. We made our way to the elevator and to the parking garage, and Luca helped me get into his black Ferrari. Shutting the door behind me, he walked around and got into the driver's side.

He let a few moments pass before he started the car. Looking over at me, he asked, “Why didn’t you tell Flynn about the baby?”

“I was scared,” I admitted. “If I was pregnant, I didn’t know if that changed anything, so I waited. But I got home, and a few days later, I woke up with so much blood around me. I knew for sure that I lost it. By then it was too late.”

“I understand,” he said, as he pulled out of the garage. “I hope you know I’m very sorry for what has happened to you.”

“I know,” I said, putting my arm on his thigh. “Thank you for saving me again.”

He smiled. “I did no such thing either time, Thea.”

“If it wasn’t you, who was it that called Flynn?”
