“Guess that makes me Robin,” Abasi drawled.
“You wish,” Elle snapped as she narrowed her eyes at David. “Let. Me. Pass.”
His jaw firmed. “No. You know you can’t win in a fight with me, so calm down and be reasonable.”
She leaned into him, taunting him. “I don’t need to win in a fight with you. I just need to mention relationships, and you’ll run away.”
“Marcus,” Callum’s voice called out. “We’ve got the garage surrounded. Send out Elle and David, and no one gets hurt.”
All at once, Marcus and Abasi held guns in their hands.
“How did they find us?” Abasi hissed. “No one followed us.”
Elle dug into her cleavage and came out with part of an Apple Watch. She tossed it on the floor in front of Abasi. “They found you because I put the battery back in that, and it triggered the GPS. Shouldn’t have bothered removing it in the first place, but I foolishly thought you might scan us for signal. I forgot how low tech you are.” She raised her voice and called to her boss, “I’m coming out. Feel free to shoot all of the men in here—David included.”
She moved to push past David, but he wrapped an arm around her and held her to his side.
“Callum.” David raised his voice. “Marcus and Abasi aren’t a threat. They only want to talk. Come on in.” He stared her brother down. “I’ll be annoyed if you shoot anyone.”
“Yeah, and we wouldn’t want to annoy you, Knight,” he drawled. “Don’t know if you noticed, but we were trying to keep this meeting to the three of us when you crashed it. Don’t need more ears.”
“And yet, you’re getting them.”
“Callum,” Elle shouted. “Send in Megan. Tell her to shoot at will. I’m done here.”
“Yes!” Megan whooped with genuine excitement.
Marcus and Abasi lowered their guns as the door at the back of the garage opened, and Callum stepped inside, his gun aimed at her brother. “Drop your weapons,” he ordered.
The men put them on the floor.
“We just want to talk,” Marcus said.
“Weird way of setting up a meeting,” Callum replied. “The only reason I haven’t already put a bullet in your forehead is that Ryan’s family is unharmed. That’s not to say I won’t still do it. I’m a wee teensy bit pissed off with you two.”
“How about we go up to the house and talk?” Marcus suggested. “More comfortable than standing around in the garage.”
Callum didn’t move. “You got any more surprises waiting for us up there?”
“None I can think of,” Marcus replied.
“Elle?” Callum said. “What do you want?”
What she wanted was to kiss him for even thinking to ask her. She was fed up with men moving her around as if she were a pawn in their ego-driven game of chess. “I would very much like you to Taser all of them,” she said.
“Don’t have a Taser on me.”
Well, that was disappointing. “Fine, tell David to release me, and we can go hear what my moron brother has to say.”
“David,” Callum rumbled.
“This isn’t over,” David whispered against her ear before letting her go.
Elle ignored him as she stomped out into the immaculate backyard.
“You okay?” Joe asked.
“No. I’m fed up with men.” She stalked past all of them toward the terraced house.
