“Are you sure?”

“Yeah.” A cute smile spreads on his lips, but it quickly fades away.

“Well, I don’t know about you, but I need to see who’s going to win this bet.” I reach for my phone and press Noah’s name, putting it on speaker.

“Who are you calling?”

The line rings for several seconds until a deep voice says something. “What’s up, Vi?”

“Hi, Noah,” I say. “You’re on speaker.”

“Am I?”

“Yes, you are.”

Grayson rolls his eyes. “Hey, dipshit.”

“Gray? Wait, where are you guys?”

“Atthe apartment,” Grayson says.

“Ourapartment?” Noah asks.

“No, Violet’s. Yes, our apartment.” Grayson’s tone is full of sarcasm. “Is Xander with you?”

“No, I left him at the restaurant. Of course, he’s with me.”

“Hi, Violet.” Xander’s voice echoes in the background.

“Hi!” I shout. “I need to ask you guys something. It’s for science.”

“Actual science or just in general?” Noah asks, his tone embedded with skepticism.

“Just in general.” I breathe out. “Is Grayson fun?”

They both burst out into synchronized laughter.

“He’s never been fun,” Xander says. “All he ever wants to do is beat the shit out of me, play basketball, and cook.”

“Shut up, bro. I’m fun, and you know it. Noah, back me up on this.” He waits for a response, but there’s silence on the other line. “Noah!”

“You know I love you man, but Xander’s right.”

Grayson looks pissed. “Why do you always take Xander’s side?”

“What the hell are you talking about? I don’talwaystake his side.”

I look at Grayson. “Okay, boys, that’s enough.”

“You can yell at us more when we get back home,” Noah says.

“Sounds good to me.” Grayson sticks his lips out, forming a frown.

I grin. “Bye, guys.”

“Bye, Violet.” They both say in unison.

Closing my eyes, I smile like an idiot.
