I felt the side of my hospital bed sink and turned to look at Roe as Cassi, Dad, and Remy fell into conversation.
“You doin’ okay, Honeybee?” he whispered into my ear, his lips fluttering against the lobe before he pressed a kiss to my temple.
“I’m good, baby,” I assured him. “And as soon as I get out of here tomorrow, I’ll be perfect.”
He gave me that smile that never failed to make me weak in the knees. “I can’t wait to get you home.”
Home being the house he shared with Cassi. After everything went down, Roe had been beside himself. It had taken twenty minutes and the promise that I would move in with them for good to calm him down, but I couldn’t find it in me to regret that decision. In fact, I was excited.
Sure, I loved the time I spent with my father, but we each needed our own space. And it helped matters tremendously that, as soon as Roe insisted I move in with him and Cass, my father had asked Bea to move in with him.
I was over the freaking moon about that relationship. And so was Remy. For the first time in memory, our father was blissfully happy.
“Have I told you how much I love you?” Roe asked me, making me swoon for the millionth time.
“You have. And I love you back just as much.”
“It’s you.”
“It’s me,” I added with a smile.
“It’s us,” he finished.
No, that wasn’t true. Nothing was finished. This was just the beginning.
EPILOGUE
DAKOTA
As I layon the cold leather table, Roe hovered in front of me, taking my hands in his as he wheeled his stool closer.
“Are you sure you want to do this?”
Pushing up onto my elbows, I cupped my man’s cheek with my left hand, admiring the stunning ring he’d put on my finger weeks ago, not long after Cassi’s epic star-studded—literally—birthday party.
In the weeks since Adam’s final attack, the three of us had managed to heal tremendously. But I was beginning to discover that was what happened when you were surrounded by love.
“I’m positive. I can’t wait to have your art on my skin.”
As an engagement present, Roe had shown me a piece he’d been working on since shortly after I got to town. It was a beautiful mosaic heart, broken pieces that had been put back together to make something even more beautiful.
Upon closer inspection, I discovered that he’d worked the names of every person I loved onto the pieces, making that heart even stronger.
The instant I saw it, I knew it was meant to cover that hideous rose on my back, and I couldn’twait!
Some of the club members worked at a studio owned by the Wraiths, and the guy Roe had chosen to tattoo me was apparently one of the best in the business. A guy by the name of Rake.
He was going to tattoo the heart, but also, down my spine I was replacing Roe’s and my words.
It’s you.
It’s me.
It’s us.
I was putting my man back on my skin where he belonged, and he was neverevercoming off. No matter what. Those words would be branded into my body like they were branded onto my soul.
“You know this is it for us, right? You, me, and Cassi. It’s us forever.” I curled one corner of my lips into a cheeky smirk. “You’re never getting rid of me.”
