I lunge for it. But that is exactly what he wanted me to do.
A knee grinds into my lower back and with a grunt, I go sprawling on my stomach until Knox’s large, tan hands wrap around my waist and spin me onto my back.
He’s on top of me in an instant.
Knox’s sword falls to my heaving chest, directly over where my heart beats furiously for him. In one fluid motion, he drops the sword and moves into my space, cupping my face with his palms.
“You were never going to let me win, were you?”
“Never,” he growls, seconds before smashing his lips to mine.
Chapter39
Delilah
One moment, my feet are planted on the newly finished hardwood floor of the top deck, with the ocean’s breeze rushing through my sweat-soaked hair. In the next, the ground disappears entirely and I crash against a bed.
But I don’t care to lift my head and see where he teleported us.
Not as Knox pours every ounce of emotion he feels for me into this kiss. This ravenous, hungry kiss that ignites my entire body with heat.
His tongue dances across the seam of my lips, begging for entry as his hips settle between my thighs, aligning us at such a perfect angle my lips part on a moan. A silencing shield is up in the next second.
Taking the opportunity, Knox’s tongue dives into my mouth, eliciting another moan. He growls with such hunger I’m startled when he pulls back.
Tendrils of shadows sprout from his back, curling up into the cabin’s air around us before they reach for me. In a tantalizing touch, his power softly glides along my skin, stealing a sharp breath from me.
“You’re the most beautiful thing I’ve ever laid eyes on.”
The deep husky timbre of his voice alone would make my heartskip a beat but his words—the confession, the truth in them—make my heart skip several.
Lying in our bed, with my chest heaving and my body coiled tight, ready for him, I take a moment to drink him in. To truly bask in the glory that is Knox Holloway.
The dazzling, dilated, sapphire eyes that twinkle with mischief and love—such deep, tender love it makes my chest ache. The glorious smile that cracks his lips, a sight I can’t help but smile back at. And my head absolutely grows dizzy with his gorgeous dimples on display.
I’ve never been so turned on before.
He slowly licks his lips, and I track the movement obsessively. “See something you like, Angel?”
“My favorite thing in this world, in fact.”
His brow quirks. “Oh, and what might that be?”
“You,” I answer simply.
A groan tumbles from the very depths of his soul as he reaches down and rips the fighting leather trousers from my body. His canines extend, glinting in the cabin’s low candlelight which was ignited by his magic.
As the air brushes my exposed legs the hairs on my thighs stand on end and before I can move, shadowed hands wrap around my wrists and ankles, spreading me. Gasping in shock, my eyes fly to Knox, and he slides off the bed with a cunning smirk.
“Where are you going?” I whine.
Ignoring me, Knox grabs the closest chair, places it directly in front of the bed, and sits, like he has all the time in the world.
Spreading his knees apart, his eyes become heavy-lidded as he drawls, “Do you want me to touch you?”
“Yes,” I breathe, half tempted to stomp my foot—if I could.
“Beg for it.”
