“Hello again, Adira.” John said, and any of the fake kindness from this morning was gone from his voice.

“I thought you were thrown out of here?” Adira looked up into his face with disgust.

“You think just because you got pregnant by a billionaire you’re now better than us?” James’ voice always made her skin crawl. It took her back to when she was growing up and he used to try to catch her naked in her room while she changed or when she was coming out of the bath.

“I was always better than the lot of you,” Adira snapped. “Just because you were able to con my mother of everything and then leave her to die in a hospice doesn’t mean you were anything but shysters.”

“I’ll tell you what you’re going to do. You’re going to get us some of that lovely money you’re sitting on with Rivera,” John said mildly.

“I will do nothing of the sort.” Adira raised her head and looked at him coldly. “Let me guess. You’ve burned through Mother’s money and neither of you have a pot to piss in.”

“Oh, you’ll do it, or James here will go to the tabloids and whisper of how you are using your pregnancy from another man as a way to swindle Rivera out of his money.” John’s smile was pure evil. “Eventually, it will be proven that it is his with a paternity test, but you’ll be hounded every day of your pregnancy and Rivera won’t want to keep a trollop like you around.” He ran his hand down the curve of her thighs and squeezed. “You could have shared in your mother’s wealth if you’d have just agreed to our terms.”

“I’d rather die than lay with the likes of you and that slime you call a son,” she said. “Let me go or I’ll start screaming at the top of my lungs.”

“Do it and I’ll punch you in the stomach. That child won’t have a chance. You think he’ll want you with it dead in your belly? Little bitch—”

Those were the last words he said before he was cut off. Her eyes widened and she saw Favian throw John against the wall. He snarled and turned on James and the punch he gave the little weasel of a man had him bent over gagging.

Lynette rushed to her side. “Are you okay, lovey?”

“Yes, I think so. They pushed me against the wall and started to threaten me for Favian’s money,” Adira explained. “Oh, we should stop him.”

“Threaten to punch my woman and make her lose our child, will you?” Favian’s voice was pure rage. “Tell me how you like it.” Favian punched John in the face and then the stomach. Remy was shaking James like he was a rag doll and the man was crying as Remy slapped the taste out of his mouth.

Lynette pulled her away from the one-sided fray. “Favian got done with his call and thought we should all come down and eat in the sweets shop with you and have a cuppa. We were just coming around the corner when we heard them threaten to hit you in the stomach. I swear I heard something in Favian snap. He moved, Remy moved, and that was it. Let them beat on the sods until security arrives. It serves the bastards right.”

Luckily, security and the manager showed up a couple of minutes later. She doubted that John or James could take any more of what Favian and Remy were dishing out. Then the police arrived. After explaining to them that John and James had not only threatened her just moments ago but shoved her into a wall and had also been banned earlier that day, they were taken away to jail.

With everything done, Favian dusted his hands together like he had just taken out the rubbish and turned to the three with a grin. “So, who wants cake?”

“You can eat after all that?” Adira asked incredulously.

“Nothing like a good fight to whet the appetite,” Favian said. “Remy?”

“I could eat,” Remy agreed.

Favian took her hand and led her into the sweets shop as she spoke. “You Americans are crazy.”

“Yeah, as crazy as you guys who literally fight over soccer?” Remy pointed out.

“Oy, it’s Manchester United all the way, buddy. Don’t forget it,” Lynette said as they found an empty table.

“It’s an American team now,” Favian reminded her.

“You can’t blame the team for the owner’s lack of good judgment,” Adira spoke up.

The threats from her step father were pushed away by the pleasant conversation. She was never afraid of John and James, but when they threatened the baby growing inside her, it did scare her. Thankfully, Favian was there to stop them before they even had a chance. And, just like earlier, she’d had no problem watching the two men who had made a travesty of her mother’s life get their comeuppance.
