Roark put a wedding band on her finger and then he brought her hand up and kissed the rings.

Lanie handed Jessica a simple gold band.

Roark raised a brow as he looked down and watched her.

“With this ring, I thee wed.” Jessica pushed the ring onto his finger. It surprised her to see it was just a little loose.

The judge smiled and brought his hands down in front of him. “By the power vested in me by the State of Montana, county of Gallatin and City of Bozeman, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss your bride.”

Roark cupped her face in his hands and then kissed her slowly, but thoroughly, without delving into the depths of her mouth. When he pulled back, he gazed at her. “I love you.”

“And I do you. I never thought I could be so happy.” With her pulse racing, she turned to their family and friends and held up her left hand and wiggled her fingers. “We did it.” Her voice was breathy, and she needed to rest.

Roark put an arm around her waist. “I’ve arranged for brunch at the Riverside Country Club.” He looked over at Athena. “I want Athena and Jubal to enjoy the day as much as we do.”

Roark turned toward the judge. “What do I owe you?”

“One-hundred-dollars, even. I put it in a fund for the children’s after-school programs at my grandson’s elementary.”

“That’s great.” Roark took two one-hundred-dollar bills from his wallet and handed them to the judge. “There’s one from me, too.”

The judge lifted the bills and squeezed them. “The kids thank you.”

Jessica squeezed Roark’s hand. “Are we ready to go?”

He cocked a brow and grinned. “In a hurry, are we?”

She rolled her eyes. “Yes, I’m hungry.”

He looked down and whispered. “So am I, but not for food.”

She ducked her head and felt the fire in her cheeks. Jessica slapped his chest. “Behave.”

Roark grabbed her hand and kissed it. “Never.”

She laughed and gazed up at him. “Will we always be this way? Love each other this much?”

He shook his head. “No. We won’t. Our love will grow more and more each day, because I can’t imagine loving you less than I do now, only more. I’ll love you forever, my Jessica.”

“As I will you. Forever. Now, let’s go eat.”
