“Please and thank you.”

I turned back to face the mini fridge with a smile.

He just might not be that bad.

But I’m never going to see this man again. I don’t give a damn what he is talking about.

Damn.

No other words came to mind. I’ve seen my share of beautiful women, but Ms. Khaleya was in a league of her own. If I was interested in a long-term kind of thing, there was nothing she could have done to change my mind.

I extended my right leg to relieve some of the pressure from my swelling dick in my slacks. Then I picked up my chilled glass of water and the itinerary that I treated like a bible every time I took a plane ride anywhere.

I knew she thought I was being an asshole, but that was far from the truth. I expected things to happen however I saw fit. Is that too much to ask? Not for how much I spent on this damn flight.

I glanced away from the curve of her ass toward the window. For the rest of the flight, I decided to close my eyes to get a nap in before we landed. I had a meeting with one of my closest friends. He was getting married in a few months, and he wanted to go all out with his wedding bands.

When I started Blackwell Fine Jewelry, I didn’t know it would become one of the top jewelry houses in the world. But I made the best connections for top-of-the-line gems and a staff that was rivaled by few others. I took a chance on new and upcoming designers.

I loved the art of turning jewelry into more than just an accessory—into a piece of art as well.

It felt like an hour had gone by before her amber and vanilla fragrance greeted me with a light tap against my shoulder.

“We’re getting ready to land, so I need you to adjust your seat.”

I nodded and stretched as I pulled my chair back into a seated position. I hadn’t even realized I’d adjusted it so much.

Khaleya walked around the cabin, making sure everything was secure before taking the jump seat by the pilot’s door. The usual feeling, when your stomach feels like it drops, came and went as the wheels hit the ground.

I waited a few moments before the light went off, letting me know I could remove my seatbelt. I stood briefly and adjusted my suit.

“I hope you enjoyed your flight with Premier Wings, Mr. Blackwell,” Khaleya said with a soft smile.

The door opened and the stairs were extended as she stood off to the side to let me pass by.

I smirked in her direction.

“I would say so. I’ll see you around, Ms. Khaleya.”

“Don’t count on it,” she mumbled under her breath.

I chuckled and continued out of the plane and down the steps to the black SUV waiting for me at the end of the navy carpet. I had no intent to convince her of something I knew would happen whether she wanted it to or not. However much resistance sheshowed, I knew I’d left just as much of a lasting impression on her as she had on me.

My driver was waiting with the door open as I slid into the backseat. One last glance in the direction of the plane, and I caught her stare. So I winked in her direction, causing her to roll her eyes and rush back inside the plane. I leaned back into my seat with a laugh as the driver closed my door.

“Good afternoon, sir. Is the temperature okay in the cab?” he asked.

“Perfect. I have to be at Blackwell Fine Jewelry headquarters in Beverly Hills within the next thirty minutes. Can you handle that?”

“Yes, sir.”

I nodded, then glanced down at my phone to go over the presentation that should already be set up in my office by the time I stepped inside. Twenty minutes had come and gone. We were pulling up in front of the building, and pride settled in the center of my chest.

I remembered when my pops approached me with ten thousand, then told me to make something successful with it. I’m sure he didn’t expect me to no longer need a dime from him outside of that loan—one that returned with interest included within the first year.

These days, he had to practically beg me to come to meetings regarding the bank. It wasn’t my passion, it was his, but I knew I had a responsibility to it. Especially since I was my parents’ only child, and it had been that way with each Blackwell.

The shit was weird as fuck. I don’t know how they locked in a male heir every generation on the first try. I just knew when it was my turn, I was going to fuck all that up. I had girl-dad written all over me—which would be yet another thing for my pops to bump his fucking gums about.
