He grinned and preened as if he were the most self-assured man in the world. “Why, you naughty little minx,” he teased.

Two could play that game. “Knight Roamer, you are quite good at tupping, but you should leave before my husband finds us together.”

“Ah. I hear he is quite in love and a jealous sod who isn’t afraid to use his fists against his enemy.”

What a delightfully fun-loving man he’d become. Juliet bit her lip and gawked as he shoved himself into his breeches and fastened his bandolier. He filled the pockets with accoutrements, including Harvey’s mask, then slid into his black gloves. Finally, he added the final touch, swirling his new cape around behind his back, then fastening it at the neck.

She sat up and clasped her hands together. “You look fabulous.”

He bowed at the waist. “Thank you, milady. I shall use your kisses to fuel me this eve.” He sauntered to their large window that looked out over the back alley.

“You could leave out the back door,” she said.

“But that would ruin all the fun,” he said.

True!

With a flourish of his cape, Eric disappeared out the window into the inky night, like the romantic Gothic hero that he truly was.
