Excuse my disbelief here, but, “You know me and appreciate me?”
“Fuck, Sully.” He’s right in front of me now. “You may be quiet, but it’s like I can hear you loud and clear. You’re determined to do good in this world. Do right by yourself. You care about the people in your life, and want to remember them. You value family and friends above all. And you’re not afraid to be yourself. I don’t know what you did to me the other night, but I can’t get you out of my head.”
“You can’t?”
“Not even for a full hockey game.”
“But we didn’t even sleep together?”
He chuckles. “I know. But I really need to get to know you better.” His hand slips up the babydoll and grabs onto my hips. I love how he does that and how it makes me feel so desirable. Needed.
“So, can I get to know you better? Just me and you?”
Chapter 8
Sully
Do you know how badly I want to just scream,Yes! Get to know me. Fully. In bed. Now!But I don’t do that. Instead I say yes, and we watch Diagnosis Murder for the night. And no, I don’t wear the lingerie. At least, not that night.
But for the next two weeks we talk or hang out every day. Random conversations like this happen all the time.
Pax: Say we’re on a roadtrip. What’s the first song you’d blast? That’s not T-Swift?
Me: Aretha Franklin. Obvs. U?
Pax: 1D.
And then.
Pax: What’s our first date when I get back?
Me: Book shopping. Poetry reading. Coffee. While you read aloud to me.
Pax: I’m in.
Me: OMG you’re too sweet. Nah. We can just go bowling.
Pax: Nope all the book stuff sounds more fun.
An hour later.
Pax: Favorite movie?
Me: Dead Poet Society.
Pax: Classic.
Me: You?
Pax: Dangerous Minds.
Me: What? I thought for sure you were gonna say Miracle.
Pax: Ha! But ya, that’s up there. Along with Terminator.
Me: I so do not understand your style right now.
Pax: You will. I’m a mood watcher.
