Then she kissed me, and as bad as I wanted to say we couldn’t, I gave in. Although we weren’t together, I still held a soft spot for her, one that was hard to shake. So, as she invited her tongue into my mouth, I accepted it. She pushed me back and climbed on top of me. I pulled my lips away.

“You cool?” I asked.

She nodded and planted her lips on me again. A nigga was sinking, no matter how much I knew we shouldn’t be doing this. I pulled away again.

“Stop,” I told her.

She sat there looking confused.

“Mars, I can’t. It doesn’t matter how bad I want to, I can’t. I will not be able to handle it. Having sex with you only to not have you is a no for me, so it’s best we don’t. All that shit is going to do is start something neither of us wants. I’m cool, gang.”

Her lip disappeared between her teeth as she slowly got off me.

I lifted and continued back at my blunt. I took a peek over my shoulder. “We’re still cool, but the sex shit is dead, mama. Now you want to smoke or what?”

She sat back on the futon, staring off in the distance. I knew what I did hurt, but it would have hurt even more if we crossed that line. It was a hard pill to swallow, but Mars really needed to find herself, and I was going to respect her enough to let her do so.

If she was right about a nigga being a king, then I was going to be one, and the last thing on my mind was filling the seat for a queen.

Zaria,

I knew you wanted to talk to Samara today, so I brought the boys to watch the sunset. Man, my little niggas repeating the word Daddy is crazy. My seeds, my legacy, my life. Samara is going to be fine, Z. Don’t worry. My baby girl went through some dark times, and it’s going to take some time, so be patient with her. Talking about things so traumatic takes time; hell, you see me. People like Samara and me need a little extra love. Even though she thought she found it in Dio, the one thing I learned is that you have to find it within yourself first. I don’t think they will ever get back together. I think they will try but will later realize that friendship is good enough.

One of the hardest things for us Zoo niggas is finding the right one. The one who could truly handle all our flaws and everything that comes with them. Not all the women who come through the Zoo can be like you, lol. Shit, I’d kill a nigga if he dared, but you know that. I found my soulmate, and Dio and Samara will find theirs. Just continue to guide her and show her love. She’s unfolding; it’s just going to take time. Just as I hope every other woman did who didn’t last in the Zoo, I hope Samara finds the one for her. Those breakups can fuck with you, especially when you feel like you’ve given your all. With that being said, Navi is hurt, and I know it. Remember, hurt people hurt people. I hate to bring up your fam and all, but it’s the truth.

Shit, Savior just pushed Peace. Make sure these niggas stay out of trouble. Be on their ass like never before. Think of me times ten. I’m going to enjoy this moment with my sons, but know I love you. I love you for every day you still choose me.

From here to our Calloverse.

Signed,

Mr. Fucking Calloway

My eyes flutteredas if I were going to fall asleep, yet my consciousness was still alert. My breathing became labored as the women continued tossing roses onto the bed until their small baskets were empty. Everyone in the room began positioning themselves in a circle around the bed as if they were going to start some sort of ritual.

The Mighty One and Devon removed their clothes, standing before me fully naked. My heart began racing. Devon walked over and slowly slid his hand up my leg as his lustful eyes traveled over my body. I tried kicking, but it was all for nothing because of how they had me tied.

Tears streamed down the side of my face because where was my savior? Where was my mother? It all started to remind me of the day she left. The sense of feeling alone and disposable. Devon’s hand moved closer toward my center as he looked at me, shaking his head for me to stop screaming.

Gunshots rang out, but it didn’t matter because even if it were someone coming to save me, it would be too late. He crawled on the bed on top of me as The Mighty One smiled on the side. He was sick, Devon was sick, and I simply just wanted to die.

“Get off me!” I shouted.

The feeling of his manhood touching my skin made my stomach curl. My eyes begged him not to, my lips muttered the words, and still they went unheard.

“No! No! No!”

“Samara!” I heard my name being called.

My eyes shot open to see Zaria leaning over me. “We’re done. No more,” she said.
