I pull back and smile as I see my girl’s face flushed. It’s time to get her home, but first, I’m going to have a drink with King and my brothers.
“Are you having fun, baby?”
“Yes. Shayna makes the yummiest drinks.”
I look over and give Shay a wink. “She does. Hey, Shay, can you pour me a Walker black?”
She nods and goes to grab the bottle.
“So, what are you girls gabbing on about?” Something had them all giggling.
“We were talking about who the next girl to get engaged will be, Meg or Dakota. I think the rich asshole Meg’s dating will hold off for as long as he can, but she claims otherwise.”
“He’s not an asshole,” Meg balks at my girl. She’s a good kid but wound way too tight. But after I got the rundown from Chassie about their dad, it makes sense. It also explains why Dakota rarely speaks.
“Yeah, he is.” Dozer comes up and clinks his glass to mine. “Guy’s a fucking douche.” Meg tenses at his arrival. It looks like her feathers just rose.
“Congrats to you both!” Dozer says, ignoring her annoyed stare as he looks to my girl. “Couldn’t have asked for a better woman to take this one off the market.”
He’s got that right. Makes sense now why I never had feelings for anyone in my past. There’s no one like Chassie.
“You’re one to talk, Dozer. Talk about being a douche. You’re a total dick.”
“And we all know how much your pussy drips for this dick, don’t we?” He cuts her a glare, and her eyes round out like saucers. That was an odd remark. Maybe she’s the one he was talking about the other night. Shit. No fucking way.
“You wish,” Meg spits back.
I grip my girl around the waist and lift her from her stool, so we can get out of the line of their drama. We’re supposed to be celebrating tonight, not breaking up a lover’s spat.
“Come on, baby. Come dance with me.”
I take her to the floor, and another roar of hoots and hollers breaks out around the room.
“Man, they hate each other,” she says, shaking her head as I sway us back and forth. “They should never be left alone in a room together.”
Being alone in a room together is exactly what Meg and Dozer need. They need to work off their tension.
“I think they’ll be next to get engaged.” I spin her around, dipping her back.
“What?” She lifts her head, looking at me like I’m crazy. “There’s no way. Not a chance in hell.”
“You want a bet?”
“Yes!” She nods. “I will definitely take that bet because I most certainly will win.”
She is about to be proven wrong, but I would love to hear what the stakes are because then I know the next thing I can get my girl.
“What are we betting for, babe?”
“You’re crazy for taking this bet, but it’s your loss. When I win, I want a puppy. A little fluffball that I can cuddle with when you’re not home.” She smiles cheekily.
She’ll be getting a puppy for Christmas then. Or sooner, based on what I’m seeing is happening in the corner of the room right now.
“It’s a deal. And if I win, your ass is riding my dick cowgirl.” I squeeze her backside so she understands exactly what I mean.
She lets out a moan and I squeeze her harder. Looks like I might be getting my wish tonight. I think it’s time for us to head on home.
“You ready to go, babe?”
