Biting my lip, I nod, watching his eyes heat.
“I think I’d lose it if I saw that,” he mutters. “Saw my name marked on your skin.”
“I better get it done soon then,” I rasp, my gaze locked on his. “I love when you lose it.”
“Keep talking that way,” he says against me. “And I’ll show you right now.”
I drag my hands up his chest, my eyes fixed on my name scrawled over his heart. “I still can’t believe you got my name tattooed on you.” I feel his fingers flex on my hips. I shake my head and laugh. “You’re fucking crazy.”
“For you,” he nods. “Yeah.”
Chapter 44
Sam
Itwistmykeyinto the front door as Jameson watches from his car in the driveway. Shutting it behind me, I hear the rumble of his engine when he pulls away.
We reluctantly dragged ourselves from bed, having to get back to reality. He has to go meet Marcus, and I have to take over watching Jace while Cathleen goes to work.
Deep laughter fills the space, and I tense when I step into the living room, the sound quieting as Carson and his friends’ attention shifts to me.
“Oh, good,” Carson says loudly, pitching his voice over the noise of the TV. “You’re here.”
“Where’s Cath—”
“Can you make us something to eat? I’m fucking starving.”
I drop my purse. “I just walked through the door.”
“Yeah, man,” the stocky brunette to his left cuts in. I think his name’s Brian. “She just got home. Needs to relax a minute.” He pats the open seat next to him on the couch.
“Knock that shit off,” Carson says, glaring at him.
“Just bein’ nice.”
Carson scoffs. “No, you aren’t.” Shifting his focus back to me, he asks, “So, food?”
The stairs creak, and I turn as Cathleen walks down them, her work bag and Jace balanced in her arms.
She’s all done up, her hair big and teased, a full face of makeup. But her body’s completely hidden, swallowed up in an oversized pair of sweatpants and a baggy T-shirt.
A whistle sounds from the living room, and I realize it’s coming from Miles.
I fucking hate that kid, which is why it was so satisfying when Jameson put him in his place that day at school.
“Lookin’ good, Cath.”
She ignores him, handing me Jace.
He leans forward. “Gonna have to swing by Sugar’s sometime to see what’s—”
“Jesus, dude, shut up,” Carson growls. “You know what? Let’s get out of here.”
“What about the food?” Brian whines.
“We’ll swing by a drive-thru.”
They all push up from the couch, arguing about where they’re gonna go eat.
