“I don’t know about the no-test part,” she said. “I thrive under deadlines.”
“In that case, if you don’t remember everything I taught you today when I quiz you, I’ll…” Hmm, what would I do? “No more kisses.”
Wait, no, that was the worst consequence ever! Before I could backtrack, Nina chuckled.
“In that case, I'm going to do so well that I’ll get kisses all over my body.”
Was that her inquiring about sex? My body went hot, and my tentacles ached inside my body to touch her.
“Even if you forget every question, you can have kisses all over your body,” I said.
She nodded. “I like these odds.”
When I felt like we were far enough from the coast to be comfortable, I furled the sails and dropped the anchor. The sailboat and fishing boat moved a little further south of us and then also dropped anchor. They were far enough away that they'd have to use binoculars to see us clearly.
“That's an acceptable distance,” Nina said, voicing my thoughts.
I nodded and pulled off my shirt and tossed it on a bench, then my shorts. Nina hesitated so that by the time I was naked, all she'd done was take off her shoes.
I didn't care if the other boats decided to spy on me and saw my bare ass or swinging dick. Let them be jealous. But I didn't like that my mate was uncomfortable.
I grabbed my shirt and held it out to her.
“You could go downstairs and change into this and wear it into the ocean. I don't care if it gets ruined or lost.”
She took the shirt and gave me a hug. “Thanks, that would be better. Now that I'm not scared of the water, I should look into getting some bathing suits.”
I shook my head. “Or you could keep borrowing my shirts. I like you in my clothes.”
She gave me a flirtatious smile before disappearing into the cabin. It wasn't long before she returned wearing only my shirt.
“You look adorable in my clothes. I think you should only wear my stuff from now on,” I said, several of my tentacles waving in agreement.
A pleased smile spread across her face. “Thanks, but I'm not giving up my jeans.”
Taking her hand, I led her to the stern of the boat and helped her step down onto the swim deck. She stood there for a moment, staring at the water.
“That's deep, right?”
“Not as deep as the ocean can get, but much deeper than the beach. I should've thought of that. Shallow beach water was one thing, this was another.” I headed for the anchor. “You don't have to get in. I’ll find us a secluded beach.”
She grabbed my shirt to stop me. “No, I can do this. My seal is confident, and she really wants to get into the water. I don't think I could hold her back long enough to go anywhere else.”
“I'll get in first,” I said. “Then I'll be there to help if you struggle at all.”
“Good idea,” she said, staring at the water.
I jumped in and let my tentacles come out, but didn't shift past that. My kraken only put up with it because we were finally fully in the water, and our mate needed to be able to see our human face.
Nina sat down and dangled her legs in the water, then slid the rest of the way in. I could tell the moment she panicked and my tentacles moved before I could think to grab her.
They wrapped around her, and she stopped thrashing. One moment I was holding human Nina and then a barking seal was demanding I let her swim.
“I'm going to shift and stay with you,” I said as I let go. I’m not sure she heard or understood me. The moment I wasn't holding her back, Nina dove into the water.
I shifted and followed her. For a moment, I was worried that my kraken form might scare her. She zoomed up to me, grabbed one of my tentacles with her front flipper and booped my head with her nose.
My god she was cute!
