Deep, churning motions knock the breath out of me, his cock dragging along my inner walls until he finds the place that sets fire to my body and sends a shower of embers zapping all over.

“Come with me,” I beg him, my voice as pleasantly broken as the rest of me. “Please come with me. Give me all of it, Nicky. Every last drop. I wanna feel you.”

“I’m so close.” He rests his forehead against my temple, his fist trembling around my cock. “Stay with me. Let go with me.”

My dick eagerly follows his command, releasing into his hand as he twitches inside of me. Rope after rope of cum warming my gut as we both go speechless, breathless, with pleasure. His weightcomes down on top of me, solid and heavy. His muscles form a shivering cage over my spent body.

“You can—ah—” he grits out. “Turn it the fuckoffnow.”

All that, and I almost forgot I was torturing him.

I toss an arm out to the side, feeling around aimlessly. “Can’t reach.”

Nick flips over. Sighing with relief as he finally finds the remote to turn off the vibrations. Our laughter breaks up the dense sound of our breathing. “You’re evil. I’m definitely not asking you to take it out now.”

“You sure? I was gonna do that part with my teeth.”

God, it feels good to hear him laugh like this. A glimpse of something carefree that makes my future flash before my eyes. Light hair streaked with silver and smile lines I helped create.

He rolls halfway on top of me, kissing my cheek and then simply cuddling there. Both of us lying on the floor, listening to the ambient crackle of the fire. “Thank you. For tonight.”

I bring him in tighter. “If you’re not allowed to apologize for blowing your load, you’re definitely not allowed to thank me for blowing mine.”

Another laugh. I might as well have won the fucking lottery.

“I love that,” I say, touching the sweet upward curve at the corner of his lips. “Keep smiling for me, Nicky.”

His gaze lingers, his fingers toying with the ends of my hair. “I’ll try.”

Chapter 21

Nick

It’s dark. Raining. Freezing.

I’m submerged in the ocean. Swells swoop me up to their towering peaks, then bring me plummeting down. Cold water smacks me in the face and lightning crackles across the sky.

I scan the endless torrent for a yellow raft, but there is no lifeboat. No crew. There is no Suoja.

I scream for Seth. Everything else is gone, but I know he’s out here and I have to get to him. And he appears. Flailing.

Drowning.

He’s so far away, but this entire hellscape is warped. I can’t touch him, can’t save him, but I can see his face so clearly as he thrashes to stay above water. As if he’s inches from me.

His eyes pinch shut, stinging from the salt water. He’s choking. Water gurgles in his throat as he begs me to save him.

“Nick.”

I paddle and paddle, lungs burning, but I can’t swim fast enough. I can’t get to him. Every time I get close, a current pulls him away.

There’s a terrible noise. Like the sound theSuojamade before she capsized, only this time it’s the scream of a human. A sound of fear and pain. He knows I won’t be able to save him. He’s terrified, and I can’t comfort him.

“Nick.”

The current has him. It’s pulling him under.

He’s going to die.
