“Guess you have some groveling to do,” Cam smiled and I was glad Rowen brought them into our lives.
“I think I do,” I admitted.
Hugging them goodbye, Cam suggested the four of us have dinner soon, but I didn’t have the same confidence they did.
Deciding I didn’t want to literally chase after Ricky, I sat down on the front porch and waited. I occasionally heard Ricky when he was closer to the house, but then he’d veer off to check on another part of the property. I wasn’t worried like I had been before the MacTaryns were taken care of, but I also wanted everyone in the house to feel safe.
Patty left to go home an hour later, and King came downstairs shortly after that. He could probably use more sleep, but I wasn’t going to argue when he told me to call Ricky in and for us to go home for the night.
Letting out my best howl in human form, I signaled for Ricky to return to the house. Pulling the phone out of my saddlebag, I sent Ricky a text and heard it go through, dinging from his own bike. The ball was in his court now.
Chapter nineteen
Ricky
Whenmylegsfeltlike they were ready to give out from a mix of running hard and exhaustion over the previous few days, I heard the alert to come in. It didn’t sound like there was danger, and I was glad for the relief.
There were no real threats. I knew that. But there was no way I would stand around waiting for Fin after what happened. My wolf got to move on instinct, and I cleared my head.
It was time to face the music. I’d ride my bike home, check on Rel, shower, and then probably crash until tomorrow. I’d already texted my boss, Norm and told him I wouldn’t be in until tomorrow. He knew pack business came first, even if he wasn’t a shifter.
Tomorrow. I’d confront Fin tomorrow. He needed to man up and share his feelings. If he had any for me…
Shifting by the back door, the midday sun had warmed my clothes where I left them and I got dressed in the clothes I’d thrown on before the fight. Spring was on the way out and it promised to be a hot day. Instead of going inside and causing more noise where people were likely still sleeping, I walked around the big house to the front. Instead of only motorcycles waiting for me, I found Fin.
Leaning against his bike, his expression didn’t help me suss out his mood. He didn’t look angry or happy, only his usual serious calm. I realized I had frozen in place when I saw him and started moving again.
“So you didn’t ditch me to patrol alone,” I commented, unsure if either of us was up for the conversation we needed to have.
“No, I was here at the house the whole time,” Fin gestured towards the porch and I caught Fowler’s scent. “Alpha’s awake and told us to go home until tomorrow morning.”
“Okay.”
What was I supposed to say? Thanks for relaying the message, see you around? No, what I really wanted to say was choking me and I couldn’t get it out.
Without pulling my club leathers from the saddlebags or bothering with my helmet, I straddled my bike. I had to get some distance between us before my thoughts blew up all over him for half the pack to hear. I started the engine and was about to straighten my bike up when three little words stopped me.
“Follow me home?”
Fin’s words had me snapping my head up to meet his eyes. He looked nervous. I never saw them man anything but competent and licked my lips. “What?”
“You heard me, brat,” Fin replied with a teasing tone. I hoped the people in the packhouse couldn’t hear him over the sound of my engine. Or maybe I wanted them to hear the small claiming of me by the older man.
“To talk?” I asked, daring to hope for more.
“We’ll see,” Fin tilted his head as his gaze raked over me from head to toe.
Heat spread from my belly to my cock and I felt it twitch in the tight confines of my jeans. Nodding, I waited for him to get on his bike before following Fin down the hill. I thought about Rel on my way past our side street, but remembered he was healthy enough to ride and Kono had followed him home to be safe.
We parked behind Motorvated, right next to the spot he’d kissed me senseless only a few days before, and silently made our way into Fin’s little two-bedroom house.
“So, what did R–” I started to ask about my friend’s reaction to seeing his dad making out with me, but I barely got the words out before Fin had me pinned against the closed front door with his mouth on mine.
Groaning in relief, I melted into him, pressing my body flush with the taller man’s until I could grind my rapidly growing erection into his thigh. Fin growled and pulled me closer as his tongue tangled with mine. Every stroke felt like it was being sent straight to my cock, and I wanted more.
Cupping my ass in his hands, Fin crouched lower and stopped kissing me. My whine turned into a laugh whenhe hauled me up into his arms. I wrapped my legs around his and marveled at how it felt to be the smaller one. To be held by someone bigger and stronger than me. I found I liked it. A lot. But the lack of control was difficult when I didn’t know where we stood.
We kissed our way to his room where he dropped me to the bed and started to crawl over me. I put a hand up to stop him and his forehead scrunched in confusion.
