I didn't know what to do with all the care and time Dillon was taking with me. We may have only known one another for a handful of hours, but this was more than just a meaningless fuck. Our chemistry was astronomical, but these feelings he was coaxing out of me were making me squirm… What was I supposed to do with them? Feelings led to mistakes—mistakes that could shatter me all over again. I squelched those thoughts before they could fester into something more. I had a sexy hellhound in my bed; I had better things to think about.
"Enough with the talk,” I said. “Fuck me already."
"Yes, little witch." Dillon didn't smirk this time, he just reached forward and swept the sweaty hair from my forehead. Then he leaned down and brushed the softest and sweetest kiss over my mouth. "I'm going to make you feel so good. Trust me."
And even though I had every reason to never trust anyone again, I suspected the hellhound was going to break down my every defense and protection. And, at this moment, I wasn't even sure I cared.
He sat back again. Without another word, he angled his cock toward my body with one hand and grabbed one of my hands with the other. Then, with our gazes locked on one another, he pushed inside with one slow, deep, smooth thrust. After so much prep, there was only the slightest whisper of discomfort as my body stretched to welcome Dillon inside, but the rest? That was pure pleasure.
My body sang. My magic even seemed to erupt from the place it used to live inside my chest as whirlwinds of fiery colors spun around us. I swore Dillon’s magic ignited too, rising in a blast of dancing flame-like hues to join with mine. I’d never seen a shifter’s magic like this before, but I didn’t question what I saw. Wispy ribbons of orange, yellow and red undulated together until I didn’t know which parts were from me and which were from him. It was breathtaking.
My magic had never done anything like that before, even when I was whole.
Dillon's body rocked into mine deeper with each stroke. Some part of me wanted him deeper still, until we were joined so completely there was no telling where he ended and I began. His hellhound was close to the surface too—flames filled his eyes, puffs of smoke heaved from his nostrils, and the tips of his fingers changed into blunt claws where they dug into my hips.
My name fell from Dillon's lips over and over again, punctuated only with deep, guttural groans.
Unspoken promises and hopes and joy filled me until I felt ready to burst with them. How could one man have such an impact on me? How was this so right?
Then I was coming, and Dillon was leaning over me and shuddering through his release too. Instinct too powerful to fight had me turning my head, baring my neck. Then, as if answering my unspoken primal invitation, Dillon's razor-sharp teeth pierced my skin where my neck met my body.
The world around us exploded in an array of magic and heat and bliss before peaceful blackness enveloped me.
ChapterEleven
DILLON
My hellhound apparently didn’t care about consent. The fucking Neanderthal.
I licked the side of Ash's neck where I'd bitten him and waited for him to wake up. The spot where my teeth had punctured his skin was already closed and fading. Thank fuck. My cheeks heated as I relived the moment I’d lost control of my beast. When Ash had tilted his head and exposed his neck, the instinct to bite overrode every other thought. I'd never bitten anyone during sex before—never even felt the tiniest bit tempted to do that—but something about this mage was awakening primitive urges to mark him as mine and keep him safe.
My hellhound nuzzled Ash’s neck again, happier than he’d ever been. If I was in my shifted form, he’d be bouncing around like a puppy, wagging his damn tail.
Fuck. How would I stop the beast from doing it again?
Would Ash even want to have another round of sex with someone who’d used him as a chew toy? And that was my real worry—what if I’d destroyed my chances with him? I should have asked first, but in that moment, seeing Ash bare his neck to me and feeling our magic envelop us, I’d lost control. My instincts overtook everything else, and I closed the loop of power between us.
Would Ash forgive me?
I shivered. If I ruined my chance with this cute little witch because my hellhound became a greedy and primitive bastard during sex, I'd never forgive myself. This was the closest I’ve ever come to feeling a real connection to someone. Destroying this fragile, tentative sliver of a chance to realize my dreams and find a home with someone amazing would devastate me.
It was probably too fast to feel so connected to him—no, there was noprobablyabout it. Itwastoo fast to be thinking the things I was thinking. But in all my years on this earth, I'd never found another person who made me feel this way. Being attacked last night had just amplified and accelerated my feelings for him, but they’d started as soon as I’d seen him on that road out in the woods.
I pressed my face into his neck, savoring the way our scents mingled on his skin. I also loved the way his body was sandwiched between me and the mattress. My hellhound hummed contentedly, knowing any threat would have to go through me to get to Ash. But I was too heavy to stay on top of him, no matter how much it felt right to shelter him against me.
I rolled us to our sides.
Ash’s T-shirt had ridden up his stomach to reveal the edge of a nasty looking scar. I carefully tugged it back down. I wanted to tug it off, because it was covered in his release, but he wasn’t ready to share that with me yet and I could wait. That little glimpse of his scars didn’t dampen my need for this man one little bit—not that I’d thought it would.
But the need to destroy whoever had hurt him burned inside me.
I wanted to know more. I wanted to ask him questions about what had happened, but I needed to wait for him to tell me. If I pushed him on this, I could easily drive him away.
I couldn't screw this up.
How did people build relationships? How was I going to woo this little witch and show him what an amazing connection we could have together? Even in my limited experience, I knew biting the guy the first time we had sex probably wasn't the right way.
I used the corner of the sheet to clean the skin I could see on Ash’s body, then I did the same to mine. I should probably have gone to the bathroom and gotten a warm, wet cloth, but I didn’t want to let Ash go, even for that short of a time. I needed to be with him the moment he woke.
