“If that were true, why would Gryvak have demanded the book and tried sweet talking me into being his sexy queen?”
“Because the book contains valuable knowledge and opening a doorway does require a certain amount of arcane ability, which you obviously possess,” he grumbled with annoyance.
“AKA you can’t use just any witch,” I taunted. “So be nice or you’ll be stuck here forever.”
“What a cruel thing to threaten.”
“Hey. Earth is awesome.”
“It smells. Is too crowded. And here I am no one.”
“You like being a hotshot back home?”
“I worked hard to achieve my position.”
“Fair enough. Now what, though? Gryvak’s gone. How are we supposed to find him?”
Ulseere glanced at me.
I sighed. “By setting me out as bait. Of course. Gonna tie me to a stake next time in a revealing outfit just like they did to that actress in King Kong?”
“What are you speaking of, woman?”
“My name is Charlotte or Charlie. I’ll even go with hot lips or juicy booty. And I’m speaking of movies, of which you are woefully ignorant.”
His lip curled. “I have no time for frivolous plays.”
“Then you’re missing out, and you still haven’t answered my question. Where to next?”
He rubbed his jaw. “I don’t know. It is unlikely Gryvak will make a second attempt at you so soon. Especially once he realizes I eliminated most of the demons he left to distract me.”
“What, you didn’t get them all?” I taunted.
“Once I realized his plan, I harried myself to the tunnel, and just in time,” he reminded.
“If we’re good for the night, then can we go somewhere with a shower?” I grimaced at the dust coating my body. “I need a good scrubbing. And a change of clothes.” Because my duffel lay buried under a ton of rubble.
“We can likely adjourn to an inn for the evening while I plot my next move.”
“Ooh. A hotel means room service.”
And a television. Time to start teaching my dark prince about Earth because maybe, just maybe, once he learned to appreciate all it had to offer, he wouldn’t be in such a hurry to leave.
Although I couldn’t have said why I wanted his grumpy arrogant ass to stay.
Lie.
I still remembered our shared dream kiss and fuck me if I didn’t want to find out if it would be as good awake and in the flesh.

“Let’s head for my car. I’ll bet that’s where we’ll find Flo.” I began walking, only to realize Ulseere didn’t followed. A glance over my shoulder showed him scowling.
“Now what’s your problem?” I huffed. The elf changed moods more often than I ate chips.
“You’re acting as if you’re the one in charge.”
“And?”
