“Are you married?”

“No.”

“So you’re a virgin.”.

“That isnoneof your business,” I snap.

PSA: I’m not a virgin. But it’s still none of his business.

“How about we agree to disagree,” I suggest. I’ve been looking forward to this wedding for a long time, and Mr. Killjoy here is putting a damper on it.

“Because I’m right?” he smirks.

“Because you’re wrong.”

With that, I turn to walk back inside.

“We’ll see about that…” he chuckles.

And my nerves are tingling.

Chapter 2

Quinn

“Good morning,”Reid whispers as we slowly walk down the aisle together.

For the record, he isn’t the groomsman I was supposed to be walking with, but after our conversations at the rehearsal dinner last night, everyone took a vote over us being paired up.

I’m not sure if it’s because they thought we were a good match or because after the heat level of said conversation no one else wanted to walk with either of us.

“It’s two in the afternoon,” I say, doing my best to keep my voice below the orchestra.

“And here I thought it was Tuesday already. These things really do drag on…”

I roll my eyes in response, wishing we could walk faster.

“Did you sleep well?” he asks.

We are both smiling, for the sake of the crowd, and moving our lips as little as possible.

“The resort beds are nice,” I say. “A perk of being in the wedding party.”

“I meant seeing as how you slept alone,” he adds.

If I didn’t have to compose myself, I’d be scoffing.

“Did you not?” I ask.

“Sleep well or sleep alone?” he asks.

“Both,” I say.

“Does it matter to you?”

“If you slept alone? No. If you slept well? Also, no,” I answer, and he chuckles. That’s when I noticed people can hear us sparring even if they can’t actually make out what we are saying. “Hush,” I tell him because the last thing I want is to interfere with Canon in D and the attention to be anywhere but on the happy couple.

That’s wedding etiquette 101. Never, for any reason, take the attention off the bride.
