“Milk, please.” She took her plate and gasped when she saw what I’d done. “I like this, Miss Dynastie. Thank you.”

I’d made one huge pancake for her and used the extra chocolate chips to make a smiley face.

“You’re welcome.”

While I made a plate for myself, Major poured Maja a cup of milk and me a glass of orange juice. He placed them on the table,returned to the refrigerator to grab one of his premade meals, then joined us.

“Miss Dynastie, will you be here when I come back?”

“Would you like me to be here?”

“Yes.”

“Then I’ll stick around just for you.”

“Are you going to marry my daddy and have a baby? My friend at school has a baby brother, and I want one too.”

This little girl’s friends were proving to be a problem. I was starting to think her friends were in high school and not kindergarten. I looked at Major, and his eyes were already on me while he grinned as he waited for my response.

“You don’t like being an only child?” I asked, changing the subject and hoping she’d forget her question.

“It’s boring sometimes. Mommy said my cousins can’t come over all the time because they’re bad and they always break my stuff.”

“That’s not good. How many cousins do you have?”

“Three, and the boys are a little bit bad. Me and Cici are good.”

She stuffed her mouth with pancakes, and I thought I’d gotten away with not answering her question about marriage and kids. It seemed her father wanted an answer more than she did.

“Are you going to marry me and give me a son?”

“Can we talk about this later?”

He smirked. “Yeah. Let me get her ready. Baby girl, let’s go upstairs and get you ready to go.”

“Okay.”

A few minutes later, I was in the kitchen alone, cleaning up the mess Maja and I had made. When I finished, she and Major were coming down the stairs.

“Miss Dynastie, I’m going to get my hair braided. I can’t wait to show you when I come back.”

“I can’t wait to see it. I’m sure it’ll be pretty.”

I kneeled to give her a hug and kiss on the cheek.

“I had a lot of fun. I hope you stay with my daddy forever.”

“Forever? That’s a long time.”

“I know, but he likes you a lot,” she said.

“Oh, really? How do you know?”

“Because I saw him looking at you a lot of times, and he was smiling like a silly person. That means he likes you.”

“Thank you for telling me. I’ll see you soon.”

We hugged again, and she ran to the entryway. I stood, and Major was waiting to pull me into his arms. His hands went straight to my ass, and he squeezed, pressing my body against his. I looked up at him and leaned in for a kiss.
