“Umm, it’s been a few,” I said, answering casually.

“A few what, Dynastie? A few days, a few weeks, or a few months.”

I cleared my throat and looked everywhere but at him.

“And before you answer, how many is a few to you?”

I couldn’t believe he was questioning me like this. It had been less than a month since Jordan and I last had sex, but I couldn’t tell Major that.

“A few is three or four,” I finally responded, still stalling.

“So, has it been three or four days, weeks, or months, Dynastie?”

I hated when he called me by my government name. He only did it when he was upset or trying to prove a point. Right now, I thought it was a little of both.

“A week,” I mumbled, my voice lower than a whisper.

“The fuck did you just say?”

His tone pissed me off and reminded me that I didn’t owe his ass a damn thing. Until last night, I was in a relationship, and the person I had sex with was my man.

“It’s been a week. Is that what you wanted to hear?” I responded with confidence and a little bass in my voice that time.

“Nah, but did you make that nigga wrap up every time?”

“You know I don’t play that shit. Hell yeah, I made him wrap up every time.”

Major was my first, and I was adamant about him using a condom every time we had sex for at least the first six months. I was on birth control, but I was still scared I’d get pregnant and ruin my future.

“I know when we were fucking, you didn’t play that shit, but people change all the time.”

As he spoke, he looked at me as if he was questioning everything about me.

“Whatever, Major. Clearly, your ass don’t make a habit out of wrapping up, considering you have a whole five-year-old.”

“The rubber broke.”

“Sure it did. Life didn’t stop for either of us . . . Well, it did for me temporarily, but that’s neither here nor there. Life didn’t stop for either of us while we were apart. If you must know, I dated and had sex with other men over the past six years. You could’ve been the only one, but you fucked that up. You’re no longer the only man who’s had the pleasure of feeling or tasting this pussy. Are you happy now?”

“Nah, I’m pissed the fuck off, but it is what it is. I lost my appetite.”

He stood aggressively, pushing the chair back so hard it tipped over, and he didn’t bother to pick it up before stomping away like a damn toddler having a tantrum. I wasn’t compelled to go after him, so I enjoyed the food for a few more minutes.

After I’d had my fill, I found some storage containers in one of his cabinets and put the food away. I wiped down the counters and table, then decided to give myself a tour of this massive home.

Overall, the house's decor was very modern, with touches of traditional decor throughout. Considering it was owned and occupied by a single man, there was a good balance of feminine and masculine appeal.

Aside from the eat-in kitchen and family room on the main floor, there was also a formal living and dining room, what I assumed was his office, and a small library. I went back upstairs, bypassing his room to look in the others.

His daughter’s room, decorated in lavender and silver with Black unicorns, was absolutely adorable. Four other rooms finished out the floor. There was a guest room, an office that was furnished with a daybed and could be used as a guest room if needed, a game room/media room, and the last one took my breath away.

“Major, oh my God,” I whispered.

The last room was an art studio. For as long as I’d known Major, he’d loved drawing and painting. Once I got to know him, I was surprised he didn’t want to be a professional artist or painter. I was astonished by the beauty on the canvases in that room and thought it was a shame he didn’t share them with the world.

There were several paintings of Maja from infancy to the present day. He’d painted a few of himself in the boxing ring and some showing off his championship belts. I came to a group of them covered by a big white sheet.

Before checking to see what was underneath, I looked toward the door to make sure I was still alone. I slowly lifted the sheet, and what I saw caused me to gasp as tears filled my eyes. Every painting behind the sheet was me.
