“She’s not in the hospital?”
“Nope, and according to the visitation log I got a glance at, her pops came in to see him but she hasn’t.”
Chandler closed her eyes, took two calming breaths, then looked at me.
“What do you want to do about this?”
“I want to sue for full custody,” I said simply.
“What?” She forced a little laugh.
“It’s Monica’s baby. She has all the rights. Filing for full custody is going to get a court-mandated DNA test and all this shit will be public for anyone who wants to look into it.”
“It’ll look like an admission of infidelity,” she warned.
“I’d rather be a perceived cheater than a perceived deadbeat,” I said seriously. “Besides, I won’t look like a cheater for long, Chan. I was bad at this social media shit because I didn’t care about it. Now that I care, trust me, I’ll be the industry’s sweetheart in a few months max. Just get me a lawyer and get shit filed.”
“Okay, Berlin. Sure.”
“Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.” Chandler glanced at the baby again. “You still having that meeting with Pops today?”
“Yeah.” I looked at my watch. “We’re meeting in about an hour.”
“Good luck.”
“Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.” She looked over at me. “You still flying back out later today?”
“Yeah. Later tonight.”
“Hmm.”
I dragged my eyes from the babies in front of me to glance at my sister.
“What? Let me hear it.”
“Just take care of yourself, Berlin. You may be all of our hero but you’re not actually a superhero.”
“I hear you.”
“Yeah, but you never fucking listen.” She pinched me and I smiled.
“Nah. For real. I’m good.”
“You’re good?” she repeated and gestured to my energy drink. “You sure?”
“Look, I’m busy today, but I’ll sleep on my flight out. After that, I’m home free. Myome will be practicing and performing and I’ll be sitting on my ass responding to emails and shit. It’ll be cool. I just have to get through today.”
“You promise you’re going to rest?”
“I promise.”
“Good.” She exhaled. “And when are you going to check on the chest pain and shortness of breath?”
“Already did.” I grinned.
