“You sure about that?” Drix asked. “She’s fainted before and it was tied to her iron and shit being off.”

“Yes. Her iron is fine. Her heart sounds good. Her blood pressure and reflexes are where they should be. We don’t see anything wrong and it is very common to faint from intense emotional shock, fear, anxiety, or traumatic news. It’s just your nervous system malfunctioning in response to a trigger. It causes a sudden drop in heart rate and blood pressure, which were present at the time Myome was picked up, but both of those things began mellowing out almost immediately. We don’t even have a valid reason to keep you overnight. Of course I recommend that you take a little time to make sure you’re feeling well rested and don’t overexert yourself, but ultimately you’re good to go.”

“Okay.” I beamed. “Thank you.”

“Of course. If you don’t have any questions for me, I’ll just go get your discharge paperwork.”

“No questions.” I looked over at my husband. “Drix?”

“Nah. I’m good if he says you’re good.”

“Alright. I’ll be right back then.”

We watched him leave and Drix exhaled.

“You sure you feel okay?” he asked.

“Yeah. I’m positive.” I turned to face him head on. “What’s up with you and your driving stuff?”

“I don’t know. I had some kind of chest pain and breathing issues earlier. It’s passed though and I’m good.”

“I know you aren’t opting out of medical care after the way you’re always on my case about my health.”

“I’m going to see a doctor when I get back home. I was conscious. I didn’t know if you were alive, Myome. I had to prioritize.”

I exhaled. “Alright but you’re going to a doctor when you get back.”

“WhenIget back?” he repeated.

“Yeah. I’m not going back with you, Berlin. I’m finishing this tour. I’m at the end already and I think I can finish strong.”

He opened his mouth then closed it and shook his head.

“You’re trusting me on the chest pain shit, so I’m trusting you on this, but if you pass out again or I see any footage of you looking wobbly, you’re done.”

“Okay.” I beamed up at him and he sighed.

“Should I just stay on tour?”

“What?” I scoffed. “No. You just launched your label. You can’t fall off the face of the earth to babysit me. Besides, I'll have Charm and Allison. Look at how fast they got me here and they’re still at my side. They’ll look out for me, and if anything happens, Charm will reach out to you and Rome. Everything will be good.”

“Yeah. Nah. I’m just going to stay.”

“Berlin—”

He cut me off. “I can watch videos and read emails from anywhere in the world, Twin.”

“Are you sure?”

“I’m positive, Yo. The label will be there when your tour wraps up.”

“I just feel like you’ve already given up a lot for me and I don’t want to step in the way of your dream and goals or have you resent me later.”

“I’m not and I won’t. We’re good, alright?” Drix reached over, grabbed my chin, and set his eyes on mine. “Now, repeat it back to daddy.”

“We’re good.”

“Better than good,” he corrected. “I love you and I’m gon’ take care of you, and nobody, not even you, can stop me.”
