“I believe you.” Drix smiled but it fell when we all heard the loud vibration of a cell phone. “Oh, shit. I almost forgot.” He dug into his pockets, pulled out me and Charm’s phones, and handed them over.
I grabbed mine and smiled up at him. “How’d you get our phones?”
“Chandler got in contact with Allison. She told me which hospital you were at, and she’s out in the waiting area with Dashawn, so she gave them to me to get to y’all.”
“With Dashawn?”
“Yeah. I wasn’t cool to drive and shit so he came along.”
“You’re an angel.” Charm took her phone and whistled. “Damn. Did you tell Rome you got here?” she asked. “He’s called me over a hundred times.”
“Nah. Can you handle that though?”
“Yeah. I’ve got it.” She tapped her phone screen a few times and quickly walked out of the room.
“Why weren’t you okay to drive?” I asked.
“Hm?”
“You said Dashawn came because you weren’t okay to drive.”
“Yeah. We’ll talk about it later.”
I lifted an eyebrow and he winked before he collapsed into the little chair beside me. He slid it closer to the bed and put a hand on my leg while we both checked our phones.
Of course I was being tagged all over clips of some interview that Monica did. I didn’t bother reading the comments but I did tap the video. Thankfully, there were captions, so I watched it on mute, my anger bubbling right under the surface. Even though I wanted to call her a bird-brained bitch on Skroll, I just mutedher name on my page and shared more tour content as well as Drix’s announcement about the label.
“Monica is going to get taken care of, Yome,” Drix said softly.
“Nobody is thinking about or worried about Monica.”
“Then why you gripping that phone so damn tight and looking like you want to punch somebody in their shit?”
I paused and glanced at him. He smirked. I rolled my eyes.
“Because I want to punch her in her shit,” I confessed.
He laughed. “Exactly.” He licked his lips as he looked at me. “All jokes aside, don’t let this shit with Monica stress you out, Myome. It’s obvious your body can’t handle that kind of shit right now and it’s not worth it. The blogs and social media and shit ain’t real life and none of this shit is worth more than you and your health. “
“I know.”
“Good.” He nodded.
We both looked back as the doctor walked inside, a huge smile on his face.
“Mrs. King.” He walked over and shook my hand. “And you are?”
“Her husband.”
“Nice to meet you, Mr. King.” He shook Drix’s hand. “Do you want to go by Mrs. King here?” he asked as he looked down at the clipboard in his hand.
“Myome is fine.”
“Okay. Well, Myome, your friend told us that you got some upsetting news right before you fainted. Is that correct?”
“Yes, sir.”
“Alright. Well, we strongly believe that shock is what caused you to faint. All of your vitals look good. We sent your bloodwork off, but due to what she said and you’ve said, we don’t have any reason to believe this is a deeper issue.”
