“Yeah. I’m going to go home, shower, and head out.”
“A’ight. I’m on my way home too then.”
“Berlin, I can drive myself to a restaurant.”
“Nah. We got plans afterwards.”
“Do we?”
“We do.”
“Should I be excited?”
“A lil bit.”
“Then I can’t wait.”
“I love you, Yo. I’ll see you soon. Shade is calling.”
“Okay. I love you too.”
I hung up the call and raised the volume on my music as I drove.
Once I got to the house, I headed upstairs, shed my clothes, and hopped in the shower. I was finishing and rinsing off when the bathroom door opened. Seconds later, the shower door slid open and Drix was in front of me, shirtless with his pants hanging off his hips.
His eyes washed over me and he grinned. “Hey.”
“Hey.” I automatically took a step back to make space and he shoved his pants and boxers down to climb in the shower with me.
His hands went to my face and he leaned in and kissed me softly.
“Hey,” he repeated.
“Hey.” I smiled against his mouth.
“How was time with the girls?”
“It was good. How were your meetings?”
“Good.” His hands went to my waist and slid up and down my wet body. “How are you feeling about lunch?”
“I’m okay.” I slid my hands over his wet chest to his neck. “It’s going to be what it’s going to be.”
“You right but I really do hope it’s what you want it to be, Twin.”
“Thank you.” I sighed and forced a small smile.
Honestly, I was a little worried about lunch. I knew how my parents were and I knew how my husband was. The chances that they were just going to bump heads again were very likely. Did I want them to? Of course not. Was I prepared for it? Yes.
Drix leaned in and kissed me again.
“What’s on your mind?”
“Why do you think something else is on my mind?” I kissed his chest then his throat.
“You forgot it’s my job to pay attention to you, baby?” he asked as his hands trailed to my ass and he rubbed my cheeks slowly.
“Nope. I’m okay.”
