Shade shook his head as he laughed under his breath. His two friends that pretty much went anywhere he went settled in comfortably.
“I’m heading out anyway.” Myome grabbed the side of my face with one hand, pulled me in, and kissed my cheek.
“What you getting into?”
“Charm just texted me that she and Retta got into a huge fight.”
“Did she win?”
“If she didn’t, you’ll be coming bail me out because I’ll fuck Retta up myself before I let her say she took a win today.”
“Beat her ass for all the times you wanted to and couldn’t.” I kissed her lips. “And call me for real if you need me.”
“I will.” She plucked up her purse. “Love you.”
“Love you.”
“Have a good session, gentlemen.” She maneuvered around my chair.
I watched her fine ass as she headed out. One of Shade’s friends whistled and I threw my lighter and hit him with it. He laughed. I didn’t. I pulled my gun from the waistband of my pants.
“I just want y’all to know I’ll kill everybody in this room myself if another nigga even gets to sniff of my wife’s pussy, so do with that shit what you will.”
His smile fell from his face.
“Damn. It’s like that?” Shade’s eyebrows knitted together while he adjusted his headset.
“Just like that,” I deadpanned. “That woman is my wife, the love of my life and the future mother of my children. I don’t play behind her and ain’t nobody on this mothafuckin’ planet about to play with her. So this is the one warning I’m giving everybody in this room. Moving forward we can move however the fuck y’all want to move.” I clicked the safety off my gun. “And I mean that. So what’s up?”
“Nigga, nobody is trying to fuck Myome.”
“Nigga, you couldn’t fuck Myome if I dropped dead right fucking now and my dying wish was for her to fuck you.” I leaned into the microphone. “Just shut the fuck up when it comes to my wife, respect her, and understand that if I feel like she ain’tgetting respected, not only is yo’ ass off the label but somebody got to die.”
“I respect it.”
“Good. Now recite this shit how we practiced.” I queued his music. “Oh, and just so you know, this label provided insurance don’t cover incurable diseases.”
Shade laughed. “Fuck you.”
“Fuck you too, bitch.” I laughed. “Recite the rap like I told you.”
“I’m waiting on you.”
I cut my speaker and started the instrumental.
Shade had signed on the dotted line the day after I watched him battle underground and we’d gotten in the studio the next night. The music he’d recorded already wasn’t bad, and since he wanted to put it out, I was down to put money behind it. But I wanted him to record it again on a clearer microphone and we agreed to keep two of his songs but revamp them completely and put them on new beats. I planned on getting his EP done so it could come out right after the label wide project. If I could get him to ride the wave, I wanted him to. He had potential, so once he got the momentum, it would be up from there.
I checked my phone while Shade recorded his verse.
Rome and Merch had released their project and it was sitting at number eight on the charts.
I’d also had a meeting with the group Myome recommended, Sundaze, and signed them on the spot. Sundaze was a four member group, two men and two women, with a unique sound I didn’t have just yet. Myome had been right. They had potential and I was excited to work with them.
The label was starting to shape up. Rome and I were still scouting and listening to the videos we were sent while Chandler focused on the contracts and negotiations.
I did a double take when I saw Myome had sent a video. I opened it immediately and whistled when I saw Charm busting Retta in her face and head while she was seated on the ground holding the top of her head and yelling.
Damn.
