“Anything for the Kings.”

I rolled my eyes with a grin and Jameer chuckled.

“Bye.”

“Hold up, Myome. You’re so excited about B. Lynn you forgot I said two slots?”

“Oh shit.”

Jameer laughed. “Chamari.”

“Chamari the rapper?”

“She sings too.”

“Are you trying to give me a favor or a liability?”

“Chamari is a legend.”

“Chamari got out of rehab two years ago and hasn’t performed or put a song out since.”

“And she’s ready to get her foot back in the industry.”

“And you think a fundraiser backed by our startup label is good enough for that?”

“I think she’ll take what she can get and your husband who just started dominating the charts has a name ringing bells right about now.”

“Yeah but Drix doesn’t hand out features like candy, Jameer. He’s very selective and because his album just came out, I’m sure he doesn’t want to ‘oversaturate the market’.” I repeated Drix’s usual quote.

“She’s not looking for a feature, just exposure, and even if she fails up there, she isn’t associated with your label and people are going to rush out to see her first big performance back regardless. You don’t have anything to lose.”

“Fine. If she actually wants to perform again, she can do it at the fundraiser.”

“She’s going to want to debut a new song.”

“As long as you aren’t saying that because you want my man to produce it, that’s fine.”

“A’ight. Cool. Thank you, Myome.”

“Yeah. It’s always a pleasure, Jameer.”

I hung up and fell back in my seat with a soft exhale.

Both of those calls had gone better than I’d expected. I danced a little in my seat, plucked the phone up again, and dialed Drix.

He answered on the second ring. “What’s up, baby?”

“Are you busy?”

“Not when it’s you. What’s up?” he repeated.

“I’m serious, Berlin.”

“I’m free. I promise. What’s up?”

“I got Bino to agree to perform but I couldn’t get Jameer.”

“Jameer said no? To you?”
