“Are you renting the place?”Karev asks once we’ve parked our bikes.
Lina shakes her head.“Nope.Three years ago, I had a rare item in a storage locker I bought at an auction. After a good investment I was able to buy this place.I am renting the shop with the apartment above it, though.I wasn’t sure if the location was okay, so I decided to rent with the option to buy.”
“Smart businesswoman,” I murmur.
She shoots me a grin and again hands me the keys.I come to an abrupt stop in front of the door and pocket the keys as I reach for my gun.
“Stay behind me,” I whisper.
I want nothing more than to have her wait outside, but I have no clue if it’s safe. The lock is busted and whomever did it might be waiting to snatch her up again.
“Don’t I need a knife?”
“No,” Karev grits from behind me.
I glance to my side where Lina is still standing, and just to piss the fucker off, I hand one of my knives to Lina.
“Didn’t you fucking learn anything from last night?Even after the damn warning I gave you?”Karev snaps.
I flip the fucker off.“Lina is my old lady. She can clearly handle herself and I trust her to stay behind me.”
“Great, maybe she’ll lodge it in your back,” the motherfucker mutters under his breath.
“Heard that,” I grunt.
“As if that’ll do you any good because you don’t heed my fucking warnings anyway,” Karev fires back.
I shove the door open with my shoulder and aim the gun forward.Lina hits the lights and the place is instantly bright as fuck.Where the shop was trashed, this place looks untouched.Karev suddenly rushes past me, Sevrin and Levan behind him.
“What are they doing?”Lina whispers.
I have no clue and stay silent while moving forward to check the whole space as Karev, Sevrin, and Levan disappear through the back.
Fatal and I check the whole place and make sure no one is here.
“Where’s the stuff from the recent purchases?”I ask.
Lina walks to the front of the warehouse and points at a section.“New stuff is always in the front. It’s easier to unload from the front and move it slowly toward the back. When I restock I always park my vehicle behind the warehouse.”
“So, only you and this Rob knew about this place?”Fatal asks.
Her shoulders drop along with her arms.A string of curses rip from me and I quickly shove my gun back into its holster.Fucking hell, this is the reason why Lina shouldn’t have a knife. Not because she kills others, but she can unknowingly injure her-damn-self.
