“Are you?”I asked, the words coming out before I could stop them.

“What?A sociopath?”he chuckled, not at all offended.“Not at all.The opposite, in fact.I feeltoomuch when my emotions get the better of me.”

“I just want it to all go away, Kasimir,” I told him.“It’s too...it’s all just so damn overwhelming.”

“Then let it overwhelm you,” he advised, again, making it all sound so simple.“And if it breaks you, then so be it.I’ll be here to help you put all the pieces back together.”

“I’m tired,” I sighed.“I’m really, really, really tired.”

“Then sleep,” he replied evenly.“Sleep for as long as you need to,lepestok. You don’t need to stay awake to entertain anyone.”

I cleared my throat before asking, “Will you lay down with me?”

“Like this, or do you want me dressed?”he smirked, still wrapped up in a towel only.

“Uhm...I think dressed would be more comfortable,” I stammered, my cheeks red.

Still smirking, he didn’t exactly laugh at me, but he did throw on a pair of sweats like I’d asked.

Chapter 10

Kasimir~

I was living in a perpetual state of anger, and I knew that I couldn’t keep on like this.Having always been able to take my anger out on someone, I hadn’t ever had to endure the uneasiness for this long, and I was close to losing my fucking mind.

Which was why I was here.

After putting Zoya to sleep, I’d needed something more than just watching her drift into slumber, not looking peaceful at all.She was troubled even in her sleep, and I wasn’t sure how much longer I could take her being unhappy.Oh, I had no problem with seeing her through the customary period of mourning, but this was more than that.Zoya was falling apart, and she wasn’t getting any better. While her physical wounds were healing steadily, her mind and emotions were still a mess, and I couldn’t stand by and continue to do nothing while Aurora finalized her plans for revenge.

So, armed with Marcelle’s work schedule, I walked into Ruby’s, making sure to sit in her section, and I had deliberately made sure not to show up during the dinner rush.Looking around, there were only five other people in the diner, one couple and a lone man sitting in the male server’s section, and two people were sitting at the counter, both drinking only coffee, two finished meal plates sitting in front of them.All-in-all, the place was quiet and unbusy, giving Marcelle no reason to rush around.

Taking a seat, it didn’t take long before she finally noticed me, and though her feet tripped a bit at seeing me, she quickly recovered, plastering a fake smile on her face as she made her way over. With each step, my heart began to beat faster, and it was clear why she believed that she could bully Zoya.Marcelle Jensen was blonde, blue-eyed, and voluptuous, and despite how I might feel about her, there was no denying that she was a beautiful woman.

“Good evening,” she said, giving me her standard greeting as she set a menu down in front of me.“Would you like something to drink why you look at the menu?”

“I just want a coffee, black,” I answered evenly.
