“Because of where it’s located in proximity to the property walls,” I answered honestly.
“The weaknesses in my security,” he chuckled as he pulled out his phone really quickly.
I nodded.“It’s on one of the more secured areas, and if I ever have to make a run for it, I’ll be able to do itandget away.”
Straightening, he placed his phone back in his pocket before walking into the room that would be my office soon.“And how would you do that?”
My brows rose in mock surprise.“And why would I tell you that? What if you’re the one who I’m running from?”
“Oh, baby, if you’re running from me, rest assured that nothing would keep me from catching you,” he replied confidently.“I’d think that you’d know that by now.”
I waited until he reached for me, and I didn’t say anything as he sat me on the table in the middle of the room.Though not quite a library, the place had been decorated as a sitting room, and while there were three rectangular windows installed at the top of the west-end wall, the huge bay window just underneath allowed the entire world to come inside, and that’s what I liked about it.All the glass was also bulletproof, so I didn’t have any issues with the visibility.Besides, it wasn’t as if I planned on dismembering bodies in here.It was going to be my office, and that was it; nothing fancy. The automatic drapes also helped with privacy if I ever wanted it.
“I plan on building a secret trap door,” I informed him.
Viktor’s head jerked in surprise.“Youplan on building a secret trap door?”
“Well, yeah,” I replied.“If I have someone else build it, then it’s not much of a secret anymore.”
Viktor eyed me as he asked, “And...and you know how to build one?”
“I already told you, I was raised alongside my brothers. You’d be surprised to learn what I know how to do,” I grinned.
“Okay, well...we’re going to revisit that topic later,” he said as he stepped in between my legs.“Right now, we need to discuss the meeting that I just had with my father and brother.”
“Okay, shoot.”
“You’re to have an official meeting with Aleksei in the morning, but we both knew that’d be happening, so no news there,” he said.“As for everything else that was brought up, you are in charge of the working girls again, and I’ll never step in the way of that like I did before. Now that you’re not driving me insane, things will be different.”
“I hope so,” I quipped.“If not, you’re going to have bigger things to worry about than a secret trap door in your house.”
“Ourhouse,” he quickly corrected.
“Our house,” I echoed, still trying to get used to it.
“I also informed them of your promise to Darya, and my father will honor it,” he said, and I let out a deep sigh of relief, glad that they’d chosen my side.“Kasimir wasn’t too happy about it, but he thought that you slitting his throat while still alive was the less appealing option.”
“Glad to see that he can be reasonable after all,” I quipped.
“Don’t get too excited just yet,” he warned.“There’s a catch.”
“Honestly, I’m not surprised,” I told him.“What is it?”
“If you’re going to insist that your word be honored as a Korolev, then you have to start using the name,” he informed me, and I couldn’t lie and say that I didn’t feel a bit anxious about it.“It’s time to stop riding the fence, baby.”
“I’ll hyphenate the names,” I offered.“For all my legal documentation, I’ll hyphenate the names, but...but I’ll go by Korolev publicly.”
“Aurora-”
“Our kids are going to be both Marchettis and Korolevs, so by hyphenating the names, it will show them that it’s okay to be both,” I explained, hoping that he could see how this wasn’t about him.
Viktor reached up to push my dark hair back from my face.“So, you’re going to have kids with me after all?”
“Well, did I answer your question correctly back at my condo?”I asked.“Remember? You said that us having children would depend on my answer.”
“Yeah, baby...you answered the question correctly,” he answered softly.
“So, how many children do you want?”I asked, meaning to tease him, but he hadn’t taken it that way.
