“And what’s yours?” Marcus asked.

“It’s none of your concern.” I heard the voice, but I didn’t see him. It sounded familiar in a way, but I couldn’t connect the voice to a person.

“Who said that?” I questioned trying to look around the men.

The group of men stepped to the side with the same curiosity as me. When he stepped into the light my heart stopped. I knew I talked about him and thought of him constantly, but I wasn’t expecting to run into him again. His features matured from the young man I fell in love with.

Mya instantly recognized him and looked my way with worry eyes. The connection she made with him was broken to protect me. However, there was nothing to protect me from when itcame to him. He had a hold on me that no one could release me from except him.

“Camden…”

“Harlow.”

“I see we’re not wanted any longer. Have a good night, ladies,” Marcus said excusing him and his followers, except Lance. He stayed to converse with Mya.

I sat nervously as he took steps in my direction. I wasn’t prepared to take him in, but my body reluctantly gave in to him. It missed him… dearly. I wasn’t trying to react to him, but it was unavoidable.

He was finally standing in front of me and before I could take in his aura, his lips found mine and we shared a long passionate kiss. That kiss flooded me with so many feelings and memories. I couldn’t escape him, and he added fuel to the fire. He was supplying me with the dose I’d been feenin’ for.

As soon as our flesh disconnected, I felt a wave of sadness. I was given so much at once that I was temporarily overwhelmed. I needed more of him but knew an explanation was due. He owed me his reason of leaving and why my heartbreak stayed on a loop.

The look in his eyes was the same it had always been for me. I felt the love and warmth behind them. However, I couldn’t help but believe he came back for other things that didn’t include me.

“Cam, what are you doing here?” I questioned with my face still being cuffed in his hands.

“I have free range now, so I came back to get the love of my life.”

I gasped on his response.

Camden

Harlow and the sweet smell she housed was implanted in my mind and senses. When I was snatched away from the girl, I gave my heart to, I knew I wouldn’t be allowed to see her again until my father was satisfied. Going against him would’ve resulted to us being on the streets and my family suffering. I had no choice but to abide by his rules.

Now that I elevated the family business, I was able to move freely. We always had money, but we were able to spend without calculating funds now, which was why I left Miami and came back to Hickory. I was ready for the family Harlow promised me.

“What do you mean by that, Cam?” I understood why she was confused but I meant what I said.

“I never stopped loving you, Low. I had to leave but I’m back to claim what’s mine.”

I could see the tears build up in her eyes. I hurt her when I stepped away and that was something I couldn’t avoid. Whether I told her my reason for leaving or keeping it hidden like I did, the result would’ve been the same. I figured crushing her world would make her hate me and she’d move on. However, that wasn’t the case.

Mya was my inside man and I thanked her for not turning me away. She was Harlow’s best friend, but we built a friendship overtime. If it wasn’t for her keeping me updated, I would’ve probably been let my family down to rescue us both from turmoil and misery. Therefore, I worked hard to where I was the head and could make my own decisions. My father couldn’t order me to do a damn thing.

“What’s yours…” Those tears she tried to keep at bay had finally fallen, yet she was still laced with confusion. I could feel the pain she was harboring inside of her. That was the connection we had.

“As in, your heart belongs to me and vice versa. You never let me go, why is that?”

“Because I couldn’t see me with anyone but you. My love ran so deep that it wouldn’t allow me to give it to anyone else. You may have left me physically, but my soul is still connected to yours. I thought about you?—”

“Every day and every minute. That’s how often I thought about the girl that changed my life as well. I just need a minute of your time alone… please.”

She looked in Mya’s direction once more and Mya gave her a slight nod and me a small smile. She rooted for us secretly. She also understood and encouraged me to hurry back. I was thankful for her assistance.

I extended my hand and shockingly she placed hers in the palm of it. I purchased the room she was staying in after Mya gave me the details of their weekend plans. Initially, she had nothing for them, but I sent her what the Four Seasons had planned and paid for both of their rooms. I knew I would have to make my move, so I did what was necessary.

I guided her to the elevators, and we stayed intertwined the entire ride. We both were nervous and anxious. She was shaking uncontrollably, and I had thoughts running a mile a minute. Iwas afraid of rejection, but I knew it was a possible outcome. I was hoping for a different path, but she had every right to say no to my proposal.

Stepping off, I walked us down the hallway. She spoke up when she noticed where we were headed.
