I hesitated but eventually allowed him to lead the way out of the party. I was dressed in a two piece and didn’t need my business slipping out from beating a hoe down. We ended up in front of his old school and I chuckled at how nothing about him had changed.
“I see Gladys is still up and kicking. Damn she done came a long way.”
“This my baby man. My mama had no idea what she gave a nigga. Just wait until you see the inside.”
He opened the door for me, and I saw what he meant. Gladys was doing her big one. I took the passenger seat and admired the upgrade she had. He took the driver’s side and pulled off shortly after.
“Syd was lying about me fuckin’ her re?—”
“I do not care Ja. Her feelings ain’t mine to protect so whatever y’all had going on isn’t my problem. I said I was going home with you and what am I doing?”
He smirked giving a glimpse of those pearly white and I felt a pulse between my thighs. I’d developed this bold aura since I went away to college and now that I was back, I wasn’t stepping down from shit. Ja was mine.
“You got that. My mama gon’ be happy to see you. That’s if she’s still up.”
“Yeah, we not going back to your mama house. I wouldn’t ever disrespect her like that. Stop by the crib, grab me some sweats and a t-shirt, and grab you something as well. We getting a room.”
“She don’t mind Cami.”
“I want to scream with no restrictions. Get the room Ja.”
Nodding, he did as I instructed, and we pulled up at the Marriot thirty minutes later. I still had my weed on me, so wewere good in that department as well. I was ready to vibe out with him and see if the mesmerizing thoughts I had were there for a reason or not.
Jasir
Pulling on the blunt that was rolled, we sat in the car and talked about anything that came to mind. I couldn’t remember the last time we vibed out together like this. There was always something or someone that caused us to part ways before we could really chill.
“I missed you mama.”
“I missed you too Ja. I tried not to ask about you because I knew that would distract me from my goal, but you were thought about… a lot.”
“You could’ve called me, you do know that, right?”
“Trust me, I dialed your number several times, I just never hit the button to connect it. I was nervous but I also wasn’t ready to hear your voice again. I knew once we talked again, I was going to find myself back in delulu land.”
“You were never there. Everything you thought and felt was real. I was just tied up at the moment. I wasn’t trying to hinder you from college either. You had a bright future.”
Truth was, I was a dog back then and I wasn’t going to let my fucked-up ways damage her. I had some growing up to do so I stayed away and did that. I wanted her bad, but I wasn’t ready to love her properly. I had my shit together now though.
Camille was different from the other chicks around here. She knew what it meant to handle business first before playing and that was the one thing, I respected the most when it came to her. She didn’t let the hood hold her back, but she also didn’t forget where she came from.
“It’s a future I wanted you in. This is my last year and if I know I’ll be able to come home to you, then that’ll make all of this worth it.”
“You went to college for me?” I questioned confused by her confession.
“Partially. I did this for my mother as well. I knew how hard she worked for me to go but I also thought about all the ways we could level up together and I wouldn’t be able to uphold my end if I didn’t give you the best version of me.”
Damn.
Out of my twenty-three years of living, I never had someone better themselves to match me. I went to a community college and got a quick associate degree, but she took the extra step and went after a bachelors. I was content but hearing her say she wanted to level up with me lowkey made me think about all the shit I could do with her by my side.
“This got to be a joke. Trey put you up to this?”
“Why would you believe this is a joke, Ja? I’m telling you what’s real.”
Wrapping my arm around her waist, I brought her into my lap. Just hearing her breathe life into us had a nigga bricked up. I wanted to feel the insides of her like now. I moved the seat back to where we had room and leaned it to the back.
“So, no room,” she asked.
