We stepped off the elevator and headed for the parking deck. Somehow, we managed to park near each other often.

“I still don’t get what you’re saying but it’s whatever. If they can’t handle a real ass woman like me from the jump, then they won’t ever be able to.”

She was one hundred percent right. However, men like Kase preferred classier women so introducing her to any of his friends or colleagues would be pointless. Malika was a lot of woman that didn’t back down from anything. Men in the corporate world would run before giving her a genuine chance.

“Well, I tried. What are your plans for the weekend besides hoeing?”

“That’s it,” she said laughing.

I joined in on it because Malika truly didn’t care about what anyone thought about her. She was blunt and did whatever she pleased. Living a promiscuous life was what she did best.

“Monday, I will see you on Monday.”

“I took that day off because I planned on going to the chiropractor depending on how that nigga fuck me.” On that note, I got in my car and left her standing there. She had issues.

In all honestly, I was ready to get home and get my life together for tonight’s events. Kase showed out for holidays as such and so did Prez. Even though he would be bringing a date, he would still shower me with gifts as well. Kase fussed about it every year, but it didn’t stop Prez from coming through with them each time.

As I cruised through the city, I thought on the way I had been loved by men over the years. It was sad to say that I couldn’t give them any in return. My heart was strapped in next to Prez’s and was selfish as can be. I wasn’t allowed to develop love for anyone else. The most I could do was care about someone and that was the maximum limit. I hated how Prez had such a hold on me.

We were getting older, and I was ready for the next step. I knew Kase wanted to take it there because of the kind of man he was. He treated me with the most respect and made me a priority in his life, but the fact remained that I was in love with Prez.

Kase’s attachment to me was where I got the most confused because he was such a good man. He was who I should’ve given my heart to, but he just didn’t move my spirit the way my best friend did. He was the one and sometimes I wished he wasn’t.

I made it home by a quarter to six leaving me with only an hour to get myself together. Because I was a woman that didn’trequire makeup, the natural beauty was giving me an advantage. While I knew to be ready by seven, I didn’t have a clue as to where we were going. I didn’t know what to throw on but since the weekend was surrounded by romance, I was going to dress appropriate and chic.

Walking inside, I headed right for the bedroom to shower and get started. I didn’t have time to pussyfoot around because of how punctual Kase was. He said by seven and he meant it.

After turning on the shower, I quickly got undressed and handled my face and mouth. I did wear a light makeup to work so that was scrubbed off and my face and a face wash was applied. My teeth were taken care of and then I was hopping in shortly after.

From the time on the sink, it was just hitting six, so I was making good timing. I stayed underneath the water for ten to fifteen minutes really not wanting to move because of how good it felt but I was pushing for time as it was. Stepping out, I wrapped up and went straight for the closet.

I didn’t know what I was going to wear and that was the dilemma. Being indecisive was most women’s problem. I stood staring at the racks as I screwed my face up. There were so many options that I was having a difficult time deciding. I knew it was going to be something black. My alarm going off let me know that I had thirty minutes left on the clock. I rushed to grab a mesh dress off the rack.

The material itself wasn’t exposing too much of anything other than my arm and legs. It was giving classy with a hint of ratchet. I thought it would look cute paired with a set of strap up heels. I slipped into it after applying lotion, perfume, and undergarments. I checked the time once more and I had fifteen minutes on the clock. I was pulling it off.

When I stood from fastening my shoes, I took a second and admired myself in the mirror. I was fine and had to pat myself onthe back because what I chose was doing my body justice. Black was my favorite color for a reason. I loved the way it looked against my skin.

“Yeah, he’s blowing your back out tonight,” I said aloud during my onceover.

My hair didn’t need much attention because of the style I sported. A blunt cut bob was going to sit regardless of what the activity was. I did put a comb through it to keep it tight. Afterward, I was heading downstairs with my clutch and coat in tow. I made it with a couple of minutes to spare.

By the time I made it to the door, Kase was approaching in a town car. I instantly smiled. He wasn’t the man I wanted to marry but he was someone I cared about, and I missed his presence. He was too sweet not to miss to be honest.

When the car stopped, he stepped out the back dressed down in all black as well. Kase was a handsome man that had it all. I ran into him at a convention two years back not realizing he was the COO to a multimillion-dollar company. He was kind and smart grabbing the attention of the women in attendance except mine, which made him pursue me even more. He worked his magic and here we are today.

Extending his hand, he gestured for me to join him. I closed the door, locked up, and gave into his request. I was smiling so hard; my cheeks were beginning to hurt. The time for me and mine had come and I was anxious for the night to begin.

“You look beautiful as always gorgeous,” he complimented.

“Thank you, baby. You’re looking debonair yourself and you smell good.”

“’Preciate that mama. Get in so we can be on our way. The restaurant won’t wait for us.”

I did like I was asked and excitedly grabbed onto his arm once he was inside as well. Kase spoiled me rotten and I hatedthat I couldn’t give him what he desired. With that came me releasing Prez and I refused to do that.

“So, Malika needs one of your colleagues, friends, or whomever to come and whisk her away. She needs something other than street men.”

“Malika is a lioness that can’t be tamed. That girl is wild, and I don’t have anyone in my circle that can handle all that.”
