“What do you do?”
“I’m a lawyer and Riley used to be one too. But now she’s going to be a business owner.”
“That’s a big change,” Fionn says.
“I wasn’t happy being a lawyer. Owning my own business has been my dream for a long time.”
“I hope your business is a great success.”
“Thank you.” I smile at him.
We grab a table when we get into the bar. One of the other guys starts to sit next to me. I hear a growl and turn to see Fionn glaring at him. He smiles at him and moves over.
“Did you just growl at your friend?” I whisper to him.
“Yes. He was going to sit next to you. That’s my spot,” he says.
I’m trying to tell if he’s joking, but I don’t think he is. The guy he growled at says something to Conley, which he laughs at. Then they both stare at Fionn and me. I squint at them and they laugh.
“Bathroom break.” Daphne smiles as she stands up and pulls me with her.
“Conley told me that Fionn’s been talking about you since they first saw us at the restaurant.”
“Fionn just growled at his friend because he was going to sit next to me. And you seem to like Conley.” I laugh.
“He’s funny. And that accent. Holy fuck. Would you mind if I went home with him? I don’t really want to bring him back to our room. I mean, if he offers.”
“Of course I don’t mind. Just text. Remember our deal.”
“I won’t leave without telling you. And I’ll let you know where I am. You better do the same.”
I laugh. “I’m not going anywhere. Except to have a drink and then go back to the hotel to pass out.”
“Uh huh. I’ve been watching Fionn. I don’t think you’re leaving without getting something from him.” She laughs.
“I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again. You are the craziest woman I know.”
“Yeah, I know. But that’s part of my charm.”
I take her hand and we go back out to the group.
“They really are a handsome group of guys,” I whisper.
“And those accents. Damn.”
I nod as Fionn turns and looks at me. It’s like he knows that I’m close and that makes me smile even more. There’s a tiny part of me that’s sad that I can’t have someone like Fionn. I can tell he’s a great guy and any woman that ends up with him will be the luckiest woman alive. And now I’m a lot sad.
Fionn
Riley. I want to ask her where she’s from, but I don’t want to sound like a creeper. I couldn’t help myself earlier when I took her hand as we walked to the pub. When Lochlan tried to sit next to her, that was the first time I’ve ever wanted to hit one of my brothers.
“How long are you staying in Ireland?” I ask Riley as she and Daphne sit back down.
“We leave in two days,” Daphne answers
“So where do you two live?” Lochlan asks.
“We live in Chicago.”
