I look up as Fionn comes in with today’s lunch.

“Apollo made me bring you pocket sammiches. He seemed offended when I wouldn’t put them in my pocket.” He chuckles as he kisses me. “How’s she doing today?”

“I keep thinking she’s moving her hand. But the doctors said it’s more of an involuntary muscle spasm. I choose to believe it’s her telling me that she’s there and not to give up on her.”

“I think so too.” He says as he sits down with me.

We open our sandwiches and start eating. I can’t help staring at him.

“Why are you staring at me?” he laughs.

“You’re so sexy in that uniform.” I smile as he leans over and kisses me.

“I’ll let you help me get out of it when we get home tonight.” He whispers as he nibbles on my neck.

“I love you. Thank you for everything you do. I don’t know what I’d do without you.”

“You’ll never know what it’s like to be without me. Because I know that I can’t live without you.”

“Who made the sandwiches? They’re delicious.”

“Apollo’s mama, Athena made them. She said that the ones that Apollo makes are a little scary. You never know what he’s going to put in them.”

I laugh. “I think I might want to try one of his anyway. He always makes them look so yummy.”

“Just don’t take the ones he pulls out of his pockets.”

I laugh. “Those don’t always look so good. I think Daph would love these sammiches. Do you know why he calls them sammiches?”

“Because it sounds better than sandwiches.” Apollo says as he walks into the room.

“Are you following me?” Fionn laughs.

“I wanted to bring you both some authentic pocket sammiches. Mama makes delicious ones, but mine are even better.”

Apollo pulls out three sammiches from his pocket. At least they’re sealed and not squished.

“You’re all noisy.” Comes a voice I’ve been waiting to hear.

I start sobbing as Apollo runs out of the room to get her doctor. You can hear him yelling at the nurses. I stand up and hug Daphne as Fionn brings over some water with a straw. Daphne takes a few small sips.

Apollo comes back in, dragging Jèrôme behind him. I start laughing as he shoves him towards us.

“You could’ve just said, ‘hey, Jèrôme, Daphne’s awake’. And I would’ve finished up what I was doing and followed you. But no. You have to resort to violence.” Jèrôme says as he rolls his eyes at Apollo.

“You’re lucky I let you walk. Also, you might want to walk faster when there’s an emergency.” Apollo frowns at him.

Jèrôme checks Daphne out and orders some tests to make sure everything’s good for her.

“Are you in any pain? Memory loss?” Jèrôme asks.

“No. I remember everything that happened. How long have I been out?” Daphne asks.

“It’s been two weeks. So you might have some stiffness, we had PT coming in to check on you and keep your arms and legs moving. Let’s get the tests done and then we’ll discuss the next steps for you.”

“Thank you.” We both say at the same time.

“JINX!”
