Jude stepped in front of me and leaned forward. "Cute. But have you seen us?"

I frowned. "What's that supposed to mean?"

"We're hot commodities, baby." He winked at me. "We all have massive bank accounts and for a purchase like this, we all chip in."

"Really? Modeling pays that well?"

Oren chuckled beside me. "It sure does. And Santi is a pretty hot photographer in his own right. He does celebrity weddings and everything."

"Wow. I didn't realize."

"At least we know you don't want us for our money," Grayson laughed. "But, seriously, don't worry about money. We'll handle everything."

"Speaking of which, Emilia needs clothes," Oren said. "Maybe we can leave a bit early for lunch and do some shopping?"

"Of course."

My heart raced at the thought of being out in public again. But I was just as excited to be able to try on clothes and choose things in person. For the past year, I'd only selected items online and it was hit or miss if they'd fit or feel good.

"I can't wait." I leaned against Oren and looked around at my pack, feeling safe and content.

Watching Emilia in public was amazing. Her last pack had made it seem like she was shy or embarrassed, but she didn't seem remotely unhappy. Instead, she practically skipped through the stores, pulling out items to hold up to herself, asking me what I thought, and then piling the things she wanted into Jude's arms. Her happiness echoed down through my bonds with Grayson and Santi, making me smile.

After two hours of shopping, we were all getting pretty hungry. It was a tossup between Chinese and tacos, but Grayson made the decision for us.

"We'll have Chinese tonight. Let's do tacos for now."

Halfway through out meal, Santi's phone rang. He jumped up and walked away to answer it.

"What's that about?" Emilia wondered aloud. "He's blocking his emotions."

"He'll tell us," Grayson assured her. "Eat your taco."

She nibbled at the food, but it was obvious she was too worked up now. I patted her leg. "It's okay. Santi won't leave you in the dark."

Finally, our lead alpha came striding back and gave Emilia an easy smile.

"I have good news and bad news."

"Okay." She grabbed my hand and waited.

"Good news is that we have a court date for Rory."

"We do?" I broke into a grin. "When?"

"November 12. But the bad news is that he made bail, so he's not currently in jail."

Emelia frowned. "Do you think he'd come after us?"

"Doubtful. He's in more than enough trouble already. And we're not exactly in a place that's easy to find," Santi assured me. "You're safe."

"I don't think I'll be safe until they actually lock him up," she muttered, poking at the leftover taco. "I don't feel safe."

"We'll always be with you," Grayson promised. "At least one of us will be by your side."
