I am already ripping my top off, not caring where it lands nor to the condition it is now in. I will be adding that one to my collection of things that have been marked by Lennon.

She stands in front of me, appraising my chest, trying to find the right spot. Fuck, she can mark every single inch of me. I want everyone to see who it is that I belong to. The only woman that I will ever kneel before.

My Omega.

“Don’t move,” she demands, bending down and digging the blade into my left pec. Right over my heart.

Appropriate.

The organ already belongs to her. Every inch of me does. It would be nothing for her to pierce the blade in just that little bit deeper. To rip it right out of my chest.

I feel the blood drip down my body, slow drips mixing in with the slick that covered me only moments ago.

I’m never going to shower after this. Each slice into my skin sends spikes of lightning sharp pain through my entire body, but I don’t move. My Omega commanded it, so I will listen. We all saw what happened when I didn’t. Each drag of the blade has my cock jumping in response. Needing more. Needing her to do her damage because I’m not going anywhere. The way she makes me feel is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced, and the version of her that’s returned to me, the version I always knew existed somewhere beneath layers of uncertainty, speaks to me in a way no other has before. She is fucking everything.

We might have fucked things all the way up but fate knew what it was doing when it made her our scent match. When it made her mine. Because there’s no other person alive more suited to me than she is. She brings all my Alpha instincts to the surface, to the point where I don’t want to be the cool, calm and collected man everyone knows me to be. I want to be the wild, untamed beast she makes me.

Because that part of me? The part that speaks in her language. The one she’s speaking right now, has never felt more understood. Her shadow spills over the shape of me as she slices, each cut like a shot straight into my bloodstream, and I’ll never get enough.

The moment she finishes, she pulls the blade away to examine her work. I look down as well, finding the jagged lines of her name carved so perfectly into my skin.

“You may be mine, Dominic, but that doesn’t mean I forgive you. You will grovel at my feet like the desperate little Alpha you are. If you want me, you will earn me back.”

I nod. Doesn’t she know that I would do whatever she asked of me?

“No more bullshit, Dominic. I refuse to be fucked over by you or anyone else ever again.”

“Never again,” I whisper, vowing it to her right here and now. Never again will I hurt her. Never again will I make the mistake of going against that primal urge inside of me that demands me to look after my Omega. To give her the love and care that she has earned.

“You will get no more chances.”

I hear the finality in her tone. It only reinforces just how serious she is. I won’t deny how nervous that makes me. I don’t know if I will ever fully guarantee not to make mistakes. That there won’t be times where I won’t piss her off. But this time, it will all be in her name. I hope she understands that.

With a final look at my face, she turns, leaving me kneeling and bleeding in the wake of her destruction.

If this is what damnation feels like, then I’ll build my altar in her shadow and thank whatever god she believes in for sending me there.

Chapter Sixteen

Lennon

Icall out the line change, smacking the back of Tyson’s jersey to send him out on the ice. We are under the crunch. It’s the final period with only two minutes to go, and we are at a tie with the Gators. We could go into overtime, but I want to end this game as clean as possible. Reaffirm our last ten game winning streak before shit hit the fan. There has been enough negative talk about the Cardinals in recent months. I am not interested in listening to the chatter that would ensue if we lose this game, too.

Tyson, Burk and Shibaski jump over the boards, skating into the game alongside Holden, Carver and Mason, the replacement goalie for Sebastian.

I finally got the chance to go and see our previous goalie a few weeks ago. His recovery is tedious, but he is finally able to walk around unassisted.

He will never skate again though. That had been a hard pill to swallow for all of us, but most of all him. His hockey career finished the moment that feral Alpha slammed into his body after a call I made to see the team aggravate him. That momentstill haunts me. The sound his body made when he hit the ice. Seb refused to listen to any of my apologies. He reaffirmed that he was all in on my plan. That the only person that is at fault is the Alpha. One who ended up being shipped off to a treatment facility after they still weren’t able to bring him out of his state. I take another glance at the clock, feeling a hint of panic as the seconds keep ticking away.

Holden skates up alongside the bench, and I push through to the front, grabbing him by the jersey before he can get too far.

He gasps, turning wide eyes to me, his gaze darting around before meeting mine. “Coach?”

“Woods, if you don’t win me this fucking game by the time that buzzer goes off, I will never let you between my legs ever again.”

That oughta do it.

I push him away before he has a chance to reply. My words will be all the ammunition he needs to get the job done. We haven’t been intimate at all since I returned. In fact, I’ve never given him any inclination that it was on the table. I mean, it isn’t on the table, but the asshole has a way of growing on me. He’s crawled beneath my skin so deeply, and despite my attempts at standing on business and remaining firm in my decision to keep them at an arm’s length, it’s hard. Especially when fate practically stitched them to my damn shadow.
