He chuckles and reaches for my hand, raising it to his lips and kissing it softly.

There is something in his expression that causes me concern, and my heart thumps as it senses something different.

“You should get dressed, darlin’. I have plans for today.”

“Plans?”

He kisses my hand and sighs.

“Meet me by the bike in thirty minutes. I must catch up with Brewer first, but I’ll be there.”

I’m a little anxious, but he leans down and kisses me so deeply my toes curl. As he breaks away, he rests his head against mine and stares deep into my eyes and whispers, “I love you, Sunday, and that will only deepen over the years. This is it for me, but before you make any rash decisions, you must hear me out first.”

Before I can comment on that, he pulls away and sighs. “But first, duty calls. Thirty minutes, and I promise I’ll bring food.”

I say nothing as he pulls on his jeans and t-shirt, grasping his leather jacket as he slips on his boots, and then he is gone, no messing around, just the practicalities taken care of. I almost envy him the ability to be ready in less than five minutes, and as I head into the shower, I wonder what is on his mind.

Thirty minutes pass fast, and as I head to the yard, I’m strangely nervous. Despite that, I love being home. The familiar walls, furnishings. Smell. The constant greetings, the sense of family, it all embraces me like a warm hug. But most of all, I love it because Razor lives here.

I’m uncertain what our life will be like. More of the same, I’m guessing, but that ceases to bother me. I will take any life with him, whatever he is comfortable with, because losing him once was one too many times.

He is waiting, a strong, silent hero who watches every step I take. He always did. I kind of got used to his form of loving protection, even against his own brothers. Razor obsesses when he loves, and I adore that about him. Alpha male must have been created with him in mind because he is protective over the ones he loves.

As I approach, his wicked glare turns my insides to liquid lust. I always want him. No matter the time or the place. He is my soulmate, and I have no doubt of that.

“Where are we going?”

He tosses me a helmet and grins.

“Road trip.”

He says nothing more, and I can no longer see his expression as he turns and starts the engine.

As I slide behind him, my arms holding him tight, everything is right with my world.

As always, we tear up the rubber on his tires, and I relish every second of the freedom we have. For a moment back there, I thought it was over for me, but miracles happen, and prayers can be answered, and I am eternally grateful for that.

I’m not surprised when he turns onto the mountain trail leading to the lagoon, and I smile happily. Thank God he brought us here—our special place.

As I slide off the bike, I remove the helmet and grin, his eyes searching mine with a hint of anxiety that concerns me.

For some reason he is not light-hearted, quite serious really, and I swallow the lump in my throat as he says with a sigh.

“I’m not gonna pretend this will come easily, Sunday, but there is something I need to say.”

I nod, nerves rattling around inside me, and as he reaches for my hand, I follow him through to the edge of the lagoon.

This time our clothes remain in place as we sit on the edge, and he pulls a wrapped bag from his backpack and hands me a pastry.

“Breakfast.”

I note the pain in his expression and nod, attempting to reassure him with a smile.

“You’re scaring me, honey.”

I can’t help my concern, and he groans.
