Sophie turns and whispers something to Creed when she notices the couple, and he nods, his expression serious, his eyes flashing with the scent of the kill.

I know that look. We all have it. Reapers may piss around a lot, but when it comes to business, we are deadly serious.

Creed nods to us, and Blade stiffens beside me, mumbling, “You okay, Razor?”

“I will be.”

My tone is dark, deadly, my resolve firm and as we turn toward the couple, my intention is set.

Creed and Sophie move toward the couple with purpose, but to anybody watching, they wouldn’t guess. She is holding Creed’s arm, and he gazes at her adoringly, and I’m guessing not all of that is pretense. Creed always did appreciate beauty, and Sophie is his match in every way possible.

However, there is only one woman on my mind right now, and as we approach and our eyes connect, it takes all of my self-control not to strike.

CHAPTER 46

SUNDAY

Ican’t believe what I’m looking at. For a second, reality blurs because is that Razor—here—in a freaking suit?

I blink in astonishment as my heart races, my breath hitches, and my world stops spinning.

It is. I can hardly breathe, and not just because of the choker tight around my neck. Tears fill my eyes and I almost stumble because standing beside him is Blade and is that fucking Creed holding the arm of the most stunning woman I have ever seen?

I must be in a parallel universe right now because I am obviously dreaming.

Santiago whispers, “My darling, you shine beside me. I am very pleased.”

His hand grabs my ass and I want to vomit, his ownership a demonstration of the vilest kind.

My entire body is tense, my mind scrambled as the group makes its way toward us, my eyes never leaving Razor for a second. I am weak with relief. He came for me. He is really here, and yet this could be a short reunion if Santiago suspects a thing.

I will play my part in this. I won’t react, and yet inside my entire body is shaking. I am weak for my man.

“Mr. De Sauro.”

The woman speaks as she approaches and flashes Santiago the most alluring smile.

His hold lessens, and he drops my arm. Thank God for that at least.

“Sophie.”

His voice is slimy, creepy as fuck as he reaches for her hand, kissing the back of it. She is smiling, but I detect the displeasure in her expression, and I can’t even look at Creed or Blade and Razor right now. I must remain impassive and not give Santiago any cause to be spooked and so I glance at the floor, attempting to breathe as I wait for the inevitable to happen.

“Do you dance, Mr. De Sauro?”

Sophie’s voice is smooth, low, and sexy, and Santiago obviously can’t believe his luck.

“I do.”

She says with purpose, “I love to dance, but my companion hates it with a passion.”

Santiago’s voice slithers over my soul.

“I would be honored to dance with you, Sophie.”

I can’t believe it will be this easy, and Sophie says casually, “My companion will wait with your gorgeous date. I can assure you he is extremely respectable.”

Santiago stills, and it’s as if time stops, and then he shakes his head, my stomach crashing and burning.
