I Won’t Give Up.

Jesse, Chaos, Tiguan, and the gang are all part of a Marine Raider group first mentioned in my novelJustice for Francesca. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DTV65N4V . Unfortunately, Jesse and Lyrical’s story does not have the happy ending they hoped for. Jesse has a secret he will take to the grave, and Lyrical will have to carry on without him. However, she gets her HEA in the Meet Me in Milwaukee anthologyTricks And Treatshttps://geni.us/TricksAndTreats-MMIM. (All proceeds go toward a local autism organization.)

Lyrical is from the wrong side of the tracks, but Jesse doesn’t let that stop him. Despite pressure from family members, Jesse holds true and sticks with what he wants. Lyrical is positive Jesse can do better but he refuses to be deterred. Shock decisions lead them down a path that they never saw coming. Fighting for what they want, Jesse and Lyrical make their own future together.

Chapter One.

Jesse - A Thursday in October

The bell rings, signifying that passing time is over, and the library noise dwindles by the minute as everyone settles down to murmurs, if not complete silence. The library dragon, Mrs. Reichert, breathes fire if her domain rises above a certain decibel, and we respect that as most of us have a metric shit-ton of work to do on the daily.

I slide into my unofficial assigned seat. “Hey, Lyrical,” I whisper.

She glances up, offers me a smile, and turns her attention back to her sacred planner, consulting the plan for today’s work on our English project. Shrugging out of my backpack, I dive into it, hunting for my notebook and battered copy ofThe Taming of the Shrew.

“Monologue analysis today,” she reads off the list. As usual, she starts by reminding me of our overarching topic. “Question: Does Kate succumb to the gender roles of her society, or does she select to submit to them. Sub-question: Is happiness predetermined, or do we make our own?”

Nodding, I open to the monologue and the annotations I made last night to prepare for today. If I’m going to impress this girl, I’ve got to be on my game.

“Well, on the surface, it seems like she’s giving in to the stereotype of what a woman’s place is in her society.”
