I ground my teeth and nodded. “There’s something about her that attracts me.”
“She aware of what you are?”
“Cipher ran a deep check on me. Navy protection iscrap. He got my records and knows I was SEAL Team Six. Cipher didn’t get my redacted shit as I locked that away, but he had a decent try. I’d say it’s a damn good guess that she’s been told,” I admitted.
“They won’t be too surprised when we walk into their compound then, will they?” Jude said with a grin. Jude was planning mischief, and I sighed.
Dynamo
I was sitting at the bar Friday night, shooting the shit with Vogue when one of the club whores strutted past. Most of the members were here, including the old ladies and the club whores.
Maiden sent me daggers and headed for Priest, who was serving. There was a smug aura about her.
“Hey Priest,” she said in a sultry voice. I was amused when Priest barely looked at her.
“What ya drinking?” he demanded, wiping the bar down.
Maiden ran a finger down his arm, and Priest snatched it away. “Don’t touch.”
“Aw, come on, Priest. Don’t be like that; I wanna be friendly.”
“Yeah, I don’t. Get lost,” Priest warned.
I saw stubbornness set on Maiden’s face.
“The prospect told you to back the fuck off. Do it now!” I ordered.
Vogue stiffened next to me.
Maiden hesitated, and that’s all it took. I was up off my stool and grabbing a handful of her hair, and I smashed her head into the counter. Priest jumped backwards, hands in the air as I hauled Maiden up to snarl in her face.
“Someone says fuck off, fuck off,”
“Okay, sorry!” Maiden wailed.
I rapped her one more time and let go, deliberately showing my back and retook my stool. She was no threat to me, and I meant to show it.
“Dynamo,” Vogue murmured, and I twisted in my seat to see the three men who’d walked in. There was no mistaking they were military. My heart kicked a little as I took in Mike standing behind a man. He wore a black tee that showed his muscles perfectly and black combat pants.
I glanced over at Warden, who had Undertaker moving Lindy and Iona out with Bryony.
“Wouldn’t think this is your kind of place,” Warden said, approaching.
“Funny how people say that about us; we’re party animals,” the man in front quipped. It was obvious Mike and the second stranger were his guards.
“Bet they say a lot of stuff. Captain Jude Allard, isn’t it? Former Captain of SEAL Team Six and now owner and commander of AlCorp International?” Warden asked.
“You’d know, as you had Cipher hack Mike. Didn’t get that redacted shit though,” Jude replied with a grin.
“And like you didn’t return the favour.” Wardensmiled. He was completely at ease. It didn’t matter what leg-up Jude thought he might have; this was our power base and our home. He couldn’t beat us.
“I’m sure this isn’t a social visit,” Undertaker said, taking Warden’s back.
“Nah. But you’ve information I need,” Jude replied, and Warden allowed his surprise to show.
“I do?” he asked, eyes narrowed.
“Yes. There’s people trafficking in this area, we’re here to deal with it,” Jude stated and dropped the bomb.
