My head snaps to the side. He’s standing in the hallway, leaning against his door frame. His hair is wet, and he’s only dressed in a towel, which is wrapped around his waist.
My mind goes blank as I slowly drink him in. So many tattoos. God, he’s so fucking hot.
“Huh?” I managed to finally get out. “What?”
He raises a brow, and I just realized he’s smoking.Where the hell did he pull that from? His asshole?
“You’re back up here?” His eyes drop to my bag. “Are you leaving?”
“Yes.”
“Why?”
“Because parties aren’t my thing.”
“Of course they’re not,” he chuckles, taking a puff of his cig. He pushes off the door frame and starts to walk towards me.
I’m frozen in place, unable to move. My heart picks up speed, racing faster and faster with every step he takes.
When he reaches me, he doesn’t stop, forcing me to take a step back, trapping me against the wall.
Swallowing hard, I tilt my head back with a mix of arousal and anticipation. He towers over me, placing one hand on the wall, the cigarette tucked snugly between his fingers, while his other hand reaches up, brushing the hair off my shoulder.
A full body shiver wracks through me, and the corner of his lips kick up.
“Things would be so different,” he murmurs, eyes flickingbetween mine. “If only you’d live a little, opening your eyes to the world around you.”
He cocks his head to the side. “It's a shame,” he hums, his eyes dropping to my lips as my tongue pokes out to swipe across the bottom one. “We could have had so much fun with you.” My heart stops as his eyes flick back up to mine. “Shame,” he repeats before pushing off the wall. “Be safe out there, Nola,” Wesley murmurs, taking another puff of his cigarette. “You never know what kind of monsters are lurking in the shadows.”
He gives me a lazy smirk, smoke snaking out of his nose as he takes another step back.
Then he turns around, walking back towards his room. I’m unable to look away, watching him as he goes.
His towel drops to the floor, and I suck in a gasp. He lets out a deep, heady chuckle as his ass flexes with every step he takes. “Good night, Nola,” he says, before disappearing into his room.
That ass. That fucking ass is criminal.
Groaning, I turn around and race down the stairs. I need to get out of here before I do something stupid like follow him into his room like a dumbass just to see what he might do.
Once I’m in my car, I toss my bag into the back and lift up the false bottom of the front passenger floorboard.
Checking out the windows to make sure no one is watching, I quickly get changed in the back seat of my Jeep. I haven't put the mask on, not yet. Just in case.
When I’m dressed, I get out of the Jeep and take the long way around their property to the back gate.
“Show time,” I mutter, bag of goodies in hand. I still haven’t decided if I want to leave her body here or bring it back with me.
I feel like with the girl from the cafe, I didn’t leave a big enough impression. I haven’t even heard anything from the news. I asked Dad if he had heard anything from his buddies at the police station, but he said no.
Like, what the fuck? I left a photo of myself with the dead body at the scene of the crime! Shouldn’t that make headline news or something?
Dad said they are probably just trying to keep it quiet, not wanting to worry the public.
Well, fuck them. How the hell am I going to leave a legacy for myself if no one knows that the Butterfly Killer exists?
Before I get in the range of any of their cameras, I slip the mask over my head and walk down the back alley behind Sylas’ house. The downside is that a lot of these properties are close together, despite the sizes of the houses. And there is not much of a backyard for most.
Each of the guys' properties are slightly larger than most, but I can see why Sylas doesn’t want to hold parties here. There’s not much privacy, and definitely not for the kinds of things they like to get up to.
