She was jealous of me? Why?
“I think you're really cool and I’d really like us to be friends.”
I cock my head to the side.
“Do the big blue puppy dog eyes get you your way all the time?” My lip curves into a smile. She’s being honest with me now, and she knew I’d find out when she asked me to come to lunch with her brother and his friends, so it’s not like she was actively hiding it from me, at least not for long.
“With them? Yes,” she says innocently.
“No more omitting the truth?”
“I promise.” She nods vigorously.
“Okay—”
“Calliope, tell whoever you’re talking to to fuck off and let’s go,” Sylas shouts before walking up from behind Callie.
His eyes widen when he sees it’s me she’s talking to, momentarily taken by surprise before his lips curve into that playboy smile that always turns my insides into goo.
My body flushes, and I hate how my cheeks turn pink.
Those were the same lips that were between my thighs, eating my pussy like a starved man, and my arousal was some kind of elixir of life.
I came all over his face.
And here I am looking at him like some blushing virgin. I’m not a virgin anymore, they made sure of that.
“Well, look who we have here.” Sylas chuckles, throwing his arm over Callie’s shoulder. Callie shoves at her brother, trying to get him off her, but he just laughs, messing with her hair.
“You asshole!” She ducks out of his hold. “Not the hair. Never the hair.” She scowls at him.
“You’re so cute.” He chuckles.
Callie just glares, flipping him off.
Huh. This is an interesting development. With me, Callie comes off friendly and a little bubbly. But with her brother, she has sass. Maybe it’s a sibling thing.
“So, what are you doing here with Lola?” Sylas asks.
“She’s my new friend. And I invited her to lunch with us.”
“You did, did you?” Sylas asks slowly, only now seeming to realize what I’m wearing.
He drags his eyes over me, all the way down to my feet, before taking his time to come back up and meeting my eyes with his. “You look… different."
I wrap my arms around myself, suddenly feeling self-conscious.
“I like it.” He grins, giving me a wink.
My shoulders relax, and I try not to preen at the praise. I’m already making this awkward.
“What's the hold up?” Wesley asks, swaggering over to us without a care in the world, a cigarette hanging between his lips. He joins us, stopping when he sees it’s me. “Lola?” he says my name, but it comes out as a curious sound. “What’s she doing here?”
That sparks a flicker of anger. I’m right here, yet he’s asking the others as if I’m not.
“Shewas invited to lunch,” I huff out. “And she has a name. If you're going to talk about me, talk to me.”
As soon as the words are out of my mouth, I clamp my lips shut. What the hell is wrong with me?
