It’s dark down here, and I have no idea where I’m going, but I keep running. The sound of their feet pounding against the dirt behind me and their shouts as they demand I stop has true fear consuming me.
Blood pulses in my ear, my breathing ragged as I force my sore body to keep going.
What did I just do? Fuck. I need to get out of here before they catch me, there's a good chance they will kill me.
I have a feeling deep inside me that even finding out who I am might not be enough to save me now. They might have been willing to protect me in school, but this is so much bigger than some teenage bullying.
This isn’t some fantasy I’ve made up in my head, I have no control over what happens here. This is the real world. A twisted fucked up reality with dire consequences that I’ve wormed my way into the middle of.
My hands run along the walls, trying to feel my way through the dark, taking every turn I can, hoping I don’t trip over something and fall.
I’m aware that I could be heading deeper underground and not towards an exit.
Oh god, what if I get lost down here and die? I did not fucking think this through.
I’m a smart person, for the most part, but I’ve fucked up.
Still, I keep going.
When I see a faint light, my hope sparks. I race towards it, not stopping, using every ounce of my energy to get the fuck out of here.
This was a mistake. I shouldn’t have taken the risk.
I loved every single part of what happened, but my need to have them overpowered common sense. If my dad finds out what I did tonight, he’s going to kill me.
Not if the Brotherhood beats him to it.
As I run towards the light, I start to notice that the space is getting smaller. My shoulders bump against the walls, head scraping against the top.
Getting down on my hands and knees, I start to crawl; the way out is a lot smaller than I expected.
Thankfully, I’m tiny enough to climb through the hole and out of that nightmare of a place.
It’s raining, coming down in heavy sheets. It feels good against my heated skin.
Tilting my head back, I squint up at the sky as it washes away the filth that covers my body, using this second to catch my breath.
“Find her!” I hear Jasper roar somewhere in the distance, snapping me into action.
As I take off, I realize the exit I managed to find is nowhere near where I entered. But luck seems to be on my side, because it brought me right beside one of the exits of the cemetery.
Spinning around, I try to get a better understanding of where I am exactly before taking off in the direction of where I left my clothes.
Because guess what, I’m butt ass fucking naked.
“Skittles, your help would be really fucking nice right about now,” I hiss under my breath, heart pounding as my feet slap against the wet ground, toes squishing into the mud. This is so gross.
This is not how I wanted my damn night to go. This is what I get for leaving the house. I should just become a damn hermit.
When I find my clothes, I dig through the bag and curse when I feel that they’re soaked through.
Fuck it. They will have to do.
Not wanting to walk home naked, I take out my sweat pants and pull them on. Grabbing my hoodie, I rip my mask off, tossing it to the side. It lands in a mud puddle. Fuck!
Ignoring it, I focus on getting my hoodie on, struggling as the wet fabric clings to my body.
The moment I have it on, I snatch up the bag, not bothering to put on my shoes, and take off running again. I don’t stop as my lungs burn, my limbs screaming at me to rest.
