Sylas gives me a parting kiss and walks over to where Jasper and Wesley are talking to a group of men, including my father.
They both look over at me, their intense eyes making me shiver.
“I need a drink,” I mutter to myself. It’s either that, or I’ll be dragging them into the nearest room and begging them to use me like the slutty toy I thrive to be for them.
“I’ve spent years wondering what it would be like to be able to attend one of these parties. Spent hours up at night, sad that I wasforced to be at home while you all got to be here. Now I’m finally attending one, and to be honest, it’s boring as hell,” Callie murmurs to me before taking a bite of her cocktail weenie.
I huff out a laugh. “Yeah, it’s not as fun as I remember.” I look around at all the well-dressed people. This place is filled with the rich and elite. The most powerful people in Louisiana, hell, possibly the USA.
I couldn’t care less about any of them. The only men that matter to me are the three who have been schmoozing the other guests.
Watching them work, seeing them do what they do best, is kind of a turn on. I can see how the people here look at them, with a bit of fear and a lot of respect.
I hate that I caused any of them to doubt my guys. If I could go back and make different choices, I would.
For one, I wouldn’t have created the Butterfly Killer.
As exciting as it was at the time, I was doing it for all the wrong reasons. It’s why I’m okay with sacrificing what I’ve built and letting the world think it’s Roscoe.
I’ve gotten what I wanted. I’ll know the truth, and so will my guys. That's all that matters.
“I kind of want to leave and check out the garden,” I tell Callie. “That’s where I spent my time when I was here anyway.”
“Oh.” Her eyes light up. “That’s a good idea. Let’s go.”
“Sorry, ladies. The garden is closed to guests for the night,” Garrett says, stepping up to stand in front of Callie and me.
“How do you know?” Callie narrows her eyes.
Garret gives her a cheeky smile. “Because I’ve been making sure guests stay away. Orders from my boys.” He turns to look at me. “More like it’s closed to anyone, but you.”
“But me?” I frown. “Why am I the only one who’s allowed to go back there?”
Garrett chuckles. “Why do you think?” he asks, raising a brow. “Why would the guys have me make sure no one goes back there, no one but you?”
A spark of exhilaration shoots through me. Whatever they have planned, I know it’ll end in sex. Will it be like the cemetery?
I hope it is. Because I’m really developing a kink for primal play.Something about them hunting me down and devouring me when they catch me is euphoric.
“Okay…” I look to Callie, who’s grinning like something scandalous is about to happen. And chances are, she’s right.
Garrett looks down at his watch, then around the room. “Looks like now might be a good time to go back there. Maybe check out the maze.” Garrett’s gaze finds mine, a mischievous glint in his eyes. “Have fun.” He winks.
Garrett grabs Callie’s hand and pulls her toward the dance floor. “Why does she get to have all the fun?” Callie mutters as they go.
“I can chase you through a maze and fuck you like an animal if you want, Poppy. Just say the word.”
Wait, so that’s what they plan on doing with me?Yeah, I’m so fucking down for that.
Garrett and Callie stop a few feet away. Garrett wraps his arms around Callie, pulling her into his grasp. I wait for her to make a snarky comment back, tell him he wishes, or to get fucked, but she looks at him with interest.
Oh, my girl is so fucked. Both figuratively and literally.
Leaving those two to eye fuck one another, I head toward the backyard. I know my way around this house, so I find the door easily.
Stepping onto the deck, I let the door close behind me.
The spring air is warm, the sounds of the nightlife around us making me smile.
