“No,” she mutters. “I mean, no one who’s worth my time and energy anyways.” She lifts her head to look up at me. “Wanna help me kill Gary?”
“We’re not killing Garrett,” I scoff.
“Why not?” she pouts.
“Because I like him. He’s funny. And he’s friends with my boyfriends. I don’t think they would like that.”
“Well, I’m your best friend, and I say I would very much like that,” she argues. “Best friends beat boyfriends every time.”
“How would I know?” I shrug. “You’re my first best friend. My only friend, really.”
“You don’t need anyone but me, babe.” She leans her head against my shoulder again. “We’re all we need.”
“I agree. No one else would ever understand me like you do.”
“True that.”
There’s a notification on my phone, letting me know that Skittles is on the go.
“What’s that?” Callie asks as I pull out my phone.
“Skittles is out and about. I wanna see what he’s up to.”
“You are literally the coolest person ever. You have a pet raven who stalks people for you. Like, I want to be you when I grow up.”
I laugh, but there’s a swell of warmth in my chest. All I've ever wanted was to be accepted as myself. Callie goes above and beyond to make me feel comfortable being who I am.
I open the camera feed and frown. “Where is he?” Callie asks.
“Looks like a warehouse.” My eyes widen. “Oh! The guys must be doing something there.”
Skittles hops around for a moment before flying deeper into the warehouse. He takes a spot on one of the beams, giving me a good view of the guys down below.
“Do they have guys tied to a chair?” Callie asks, leaning in to get a better look.
“Looks like it.” I turn up the brightness on my phone as well as the volume.”
“You think you can fuck her and live?” Sylas growls, getting into one of the guy’s faces.
“I don’t know who you're talking about!” the guy shouts back. “We never fucked Nola.”
“Shit.” My hand snaps to my mouth as my eyes widen in shock.
Callie bursts out laughing. “I told you!”
“I feel like I should feel guilty for getting them killed for no reason, but honestly, I’m kind of getting turned on knowing they’re killing for me again.”
“Eww.” Callie laughs, pushing at my shoulder. “I don’t want to hear about you getting horny for my brother.”
“Okay, fine, not for him but the other two,” I lie.
“Better.”
We sit and watch. The guys strapped to the chairs beg and plead their innocence, but my guys don’t listen. They end up gagging them, and one by one, they take turns torturing them.
“Did you see how hard Sylas just swung that bat!” Callie gasps. “Damn, he can hit hard. Should have tried out for baseball.”
“Did you notice it has nails on it?” I ask excitedly as Sylas pulls the bat free, leaving bloody holes in the guy's face.
