During the next part, “But in the heat of the moment,”I grasp her face between my hands, then sing“I put my hand in fire.”

Like when I was bold and pushed the guys more than I’d ever dared to do before.

“Come on!” I grab her by the arms, pulling her into a seated position. Her head flops back, and I roll my eyes. “Don’t be difficult,” I huff, sliding my arms under hers. I lift her off the table to sit her in the wheely chair. “That’s more like it.” I grin, grabbing one of the rolls of rubber tourniquet and tie it around her chest, keeping her upright. “Dance with me!” I laugh, grabbing her hands, swinging them to the side.

We dance around the room, me dragging her around on the chair. Closing my eyes, I rock back and forth, continuing to sing along. We do the waltz and a bit of the tango before I pull her to me, grasping her face in my hands. I sing the lyrics “Wanna see your childhood bedsheets”with a laugh, then follow it with“and be friends with your mom.”

I’d love to get to know Jasper’s mom better. I always liked her as a kid. She was so sweet to me. I hope she likes me when she finds out I’m dating her son.

I’m going to have to set up a big family dinner and invite Jasper’s parents. Wesley’s parents can kick rocks. I’d probably stab them if I ran into them. Never liked those self-centered assholes.

As I’m spinning Rebecca around in the chair, I turn to face the elevator, seeing my Dad step out.

He pauses, blinking his eyes and assessing the situation.

“You know what!” he shouts over the music. “I’ll come back later.”

Laughing, I run over to the music to turn it down. “Wait,” I chuckle. “I’m done here anyway, but I actually needed a favor from you.”

“Oh boy,” he sighs. “What now?”

“I got some blood in my trunk and some pieces of flesh in the grill of my Jeep. Do you mind helping me clean that up before I bring Becky Boo here–” I say, gesturing to the dead body beside me. “Back to the scene of the crime.”

He looks over at Rebecca and looks visibly taken aback. “Dear God, Nola, what the fuck did you do to the girl?”

“I hit her with my Jeep,” I say like it’s obvious. “That's why there are pieces of her body in my grill.”

“Fucking hell.” He pinches the bridge of his nose. “I told you, always use plastic. And you can’t go around hitting people with your Jeep. It makes a mess.”

“I know, but Dad, you should have seen it. She flew right over the top.” I giggle. “Fucked her up real good. But don’t worry, I pieced her back together,” I exclaim excitedly.

“You turned her into Frankenstein’s monster, Nola,” he deadpans.

“I thought so, too!” I grin.

“Give me a half hour,” he mutters, turning around to get back into the elevator.

“Thanks, Dad!” I shout as the doors begin to close. “I love you! You’re the best.”

“Yeah, yeah.” He waves me off. “You’re more unhinged than I am.” I hear him mutter before the doors fully shut.

“I’ll take that as a compliment.” I grin.

Putting the body back on the table, I head up and help Dad clean my Jeep. I mean, I did cause the mess, it’s only fair.

Once that's done, he helps me load her into the trunk.

He takes off, but I head back in to change out of my costume and into my Butterfly Killer get-up.

“Ready for another road trip?” I ask her, knowing it’s going to be around four in the morning by the time I get home. “I’m going toplay music to help keep me awake. Don’t worry, it’s not Ashnikko again.” I roll my eyes. “Still don’t understand how you don’t like her.”

Scrolling through a different playlist, I chose the songOpaliteby Taylor Swift as I pull out from the back entrance of the morgue and onto the main road that leads to the highway.

“I love this song!” I shout before I start to sing along.

An hour or so later, I’m back to where I hit Rebecca. “We need to make this quick. I don’t want anyone catching me. And I’m tired as fuck. Good thing it’s the weekend. There’s no way I’m not sleeping in tomorrow morning. Or is it this morning? You’re more work than you’re worth, but this is needed.”

Getting out of the Jeep, I make my way to the back.
