“No.”
“Want me to distract you from it?” She reached under the sheet and scratches her nails across my abs.
“Don’t.” I push her hand away, and her face falls.
“Did I do something wrong?”
“No. You’re perfect, pipsqueak. I’m sorry. C’mere.” I haul her over onto me by her armpits and wrap my arms tightly around her. I breathe her in, hoping like hell it isn’t for the last time.
My mind flashes back to that image.
Why couldn’t it be Low?
Why was I so fucking stupid?
“Gray?” she mumbles against my chest.
“What?” I soften my tone.
“I can’t breathe.”
“Sorry.” I loosen my hold.
She goes up on an elbow, looking up at me. Fuck me, she’s so damn pretty. So sweet. “Was last night…was it good? Was I okay?”
“Baby, you were perfect. Best I’ve ever had.” The second the words leave my lips, I want to snatch them back. While true, comparing her to other women isn’t the move.
“It’s just it was my first time, and I was so nervous.”
I took something precious from her, and she’s the one worried.
Woods has every right to kill me.
I should tell him everything so he can have Dirty start digging the hole they’re going to dump my body in.
“It’ll be better next time.”
“I don’t think I could love being with you more than I already do.”
I bring my lips down hers, knowing I’m going to break her heart.
I never should have started something with her.
I’m not the good guy she believes me to be.
“Are you sore?”
“A little.”
“I’ll get you a painkiller.”
“It’s okay. I like how it feels.”
I kiss her lips and try to forget about the text messages on my phone.
My cell buzzes again.
I’m afraid to look.
